Updating on the Emotional wreck SD!! So re-cap; BM abandoned SS 13 and SD 11 a year ago, valentines day weekend was the last time they went for a "visit"

It's been an emotional train wreck for all of us! SD is taking it the hardest, and she tends to take it out on me, seems like that anyways. BM over the years has brain washed her too, so she dis-likes me, does not respect me and is an all out drama queen cause her BM told her to, pretty much.

Parenting and Step Parenting

Erica Eve's picture

Hello,

I don't know where to start except the beginning. I am 31 years old and I am a mother to an 11, 9 and 6 year old. I meant their father in HS and very stupidly jumped into a relationship with him. We had a very yo-yo marriage but the cheating and physical abuse became too much for me to take and i did not want to raise my children in this type of home. I reconnected with my ex boyfriend from HS and we began dating 5 years later we live together have a life together and are now planning a wedding.

**Update** to "AM I BEING PETTY?"

I went home at lunch yesterday and grabbed my charger. I decided I wouldn't give him the opportunity to get me all worked up!! When I got home I discovered our laptop was not in our bedroom. I sent DH a text asking if he gave SS13 permission to use it and he said no. I told him I'd let him handle it! (he took it on Saturday also)

Kicking the Bad Habit!!!

So away from skids talk.... I'm on day 3 of not smoking!! It's not all easy but I'm fighting hard. Would rather fight cravings than cancer!! Smile

My youngest sister is my inspiration. She is only 13 and fighting cancer for the second time around. Hodgekins level 4. She hates that I smoke and I know exactly why! Poor baby!

This is what can happen if you think things will get better

My cousin has been married to her dh for 20 years the whole time he has cheated on her. Including with her sister. She refused to leave him saying it will get better and he will stop each and every time he did something. He has been on drugs for the last couple of years. Plus every time she says she will leave he threatens suicide.

BM trying to be a hero

BettyRay's picture

Yet again BM called on our weekend with the boys to yell at SS13. She called DH’s mobile, asked to talk to SS13 (who was in the shower). DH has SS13 return BM’s call.

SS13 starts whispering into the phone; DH can tell BM is yelling at SS13 about something. DH pipes in “What did you do now? Let me talk to your mother.”

sd (almost 15) and dl

somerg's picture

my sd who is going to be 15 in july will have her permit (should) by janurary (as long as bm gets out of her denial phase that her baby is growing up-sd has the maturity level of a 7 year old because bm doesn't teach her responsibility-seriously). Have you gone through this as a sparent and how did it work? did either parent get the driving teen a car and pay for the expenses so he/she could drive themselves and siblings back and forth for visitation?

How to nip attention-seeking behaviors in young children in the bud?

SteppingUp's picture

I've been explaining to FDH how I believe most of his son's behavior issues are attention-seeking behaviors...basically ever since I met him. I'm a teacher (or was before I relocated, I'm job hunting), but I typically see the behavior in high school students that I teach/coach, and I'm not sure what to do with a 3.5 year old who does things for attention. FDH hasn't really known what to do besides just kind of in general being hard on him.

I’ve been with DH for 4.5 years. Married 2.5 years. We’ve split 3 times. The longest was for about 4 weeks. Our relationship in the very, very beginning was incredible…then we moved in together after 10 months….and reality struck.

It was hard. It still is sometimes. In 2009, I had two successful IVF attempts, each to be followed by miscarriages (DH had a vasectomy during his first marriage). Hence, no bios for me.
