SD17 is here for some quality time with Dad (SD20 is in uni and living her best life, SD17 comes over a few evenings for dinner, and sleeps over a few times a month. Things are chill). She gets a call from BM, groans, and answers. Lots of "uh huh" and "ok". She hangs up and says flatly "good news. Mom doesn't have rabies."
The jokes just write themselves.
When SS24 was about 14, he developed an interest in boxing. I mentioned it in prior blogs. DH paid for his training and SS would go almost daily. He was good, but he wasn’t great. Had a couple of matches and then at 17/18 left the sport because he had a bad shoulder.According to one version of how he began smoking, SS says that someone at the boxing gym gave him some marijuana to help ease the pain of the shoulder injury. After he left boxing, he wanted to become a rapper/talent manager.
So as I'm sure most of you are aware of the total crap storm that brewed Easter weekend, all that drama and SD14 decided to not come. There were many MANY talks that happened the entire weekend ( all calm thank god) but I did come down on him HARD on passive aggressive MIL. He apologized and has since had a talk with his mother about her unwanted advice and her comments about his wife (me) . We have had a few counseling session which are going great, DH didn't object at all. Things have been peaceful in the house besides the chaos of having 4 kids lol.
Friday at last. This is a short one.

We have my step children 75% of the time. We were already living 8 hrs apart from bio mom. July 2023 bi mom decided to take a new job in another state that is an additional 3 hours away. Bi mom served my DH modification petition. She is requesting that child exchange be switched to halfway to her new home. Also to lower child support since she is no longer working her second job. The child support form she filled is missing the health insurance paid by my DH. Its included in the current child support. 6+ months went on and she didnt do anything with the case.
When DW is getting ready to visit her family she starts using voice inflections, speech paterns, and facial expressions that are a family thing. Beyond the IL clan family tone, inflections, wording, etc... are the additional and amplified version mY SIL uses. DW adopts a few things that are very similar to what my thief assed POS lying weasle of an SIL does though without the whiney "I'm spe.....cial" toddler thing that the POS SIL does.
Well, I was wrong. SD62 did not take DH's $500 bail refund. The 3 of us went to the Courthouse today and they cut a check for it while we waited. They said, "It should have been mailed" but who knows what happened.
SD told me DH kept saying "just tell me the truth, you cashed it, right?". So, anyway, it ended well.
She didn't look good at all, is having multiple health issues, hands shaking. DH was in raptures, "My 2 favorite people!". Altho she and I were lukewarm, he insisted on going out to lunch.
On and on.....
You might recall that DH bailed SD62, aka The Grifter, out of jail to the tune of $500. She was somehow involved with a credit card scam but the charges were dropped in March. So, where's the $500?
One of the rules at our house is "no electronics at bedtime." SS13 puts his various gadgets in the hall and DH puts them away for the night, then puts them back out when he gets up in the morning. There have been instances of SS holding onto one, lying about whether or not he brought it to our house -- or just neglecting to put one out to see if DH notices.
DH FaceTimed with SS12 tonight for our usual twice weekly call. SS is in the middle of state standardized testing in school and told DH he just wrapped up English last week. DH asked SS what the English portion entailed. SS explained that there was reading, comprehension, and a writing prompt about whether class participation should count toward a student' grade. DH asked SS where he stood on that topic. SS said he felt it shouldn't and outlined his reasons.
