SS Dad and New Baby

Elle36's picture

I had a baby in August. SS of 7 is with us every other week for a full week. In the beginning SS was real excited about her and would give her attention and be concerned of her needs. Lately the tables have turned. SS has gotten real needy. I understand that every kid probably goes through this phase but now it is rubing off on Dad. yesterday SS was over the top. Dad had to get his full attention. And Dad gave it. I am yet to hear, Not now, baby needs fed. Or baby needs diaper changed, you get the picture. Whatever SS needed, wanted, etc....Dad was right there to give it.

When will we start feeling like a family?

Enuffsenuff's picture

I haven't posted in along time, but I was curious as to if any of you feel this way. I've been with BF for two years, we are finally considering marriage and between the two of us we are raising five children(he has two and I have three)both of us share custody of our children with x's.

For two years we've battled with a jealous ex-wife who insists on interfering in our life in anyway she can. The only thing I've wanted, more then anything, is for us to be a family and to "feel" like a family.

So pissed off

Skids went to their BM this weekend. When they got home both had one red eye. I asked why and they said maybe pinkeye. I was like WHAT???? Can people get pink eye in 3 days? Of course the bitch sends them home to us to deal with it. Can't this woman be responsible for her own kids for once instead of always putting shit on me and HB?!! Now my 3 kids will probably get it too!

I told the kids their mom was rude today.

It totally slipped out. She has started suggesting things for the kids to watch on tv while they are here on our weekends. She has done this several times already, knowing that we don't watch tv very often. Even when the kids aren't here we aren't big into tv shows. We love our DVR!!!

Teenagers and restaurants

OMG - I have to get another person's viewpoint on this - major vent - maybe I am just way off base here and need someone objective to tell me so but I don't think so ..... so today after Church we are trying to come up with a few ideas for eating lunch out on a budget since money is relatively tight at the minute, actually money is always tight. So anyway we finally end up at a restaurant and my SD15 asks for a starter and then an entree that costs $13.49.

Should we give them our new address?

Mary Louise's picture

My fiance's family is pretty much not speaking to him at all. We just moved to a new house. His brother was our landlord at the house we just moved from. He's not speaking to us either, except in landlord capacity. Our cell number and email addresses are all remaining the same.

So, should we bother giving them our new address and home phone? I don't see any need, and frankly I wish we lived three states away, but my fiance thinks he should just volunteer it all.

Christmas with the step daughter again

I am new to this site, and for that matter have never blogged or chatted online at all. If I just send this out to space at least maybe it will get out of my head. I have a stepdaughter that is 12, and I have been married to her dad for 7 years. We also have two children of our own that are 5 and 4. I have tried very hard to love my stepdaughter, but I just don't. Don't get me wrong I care about what happens to her but I just can't get past the fact that I don't like her. She lies about everything and always has. She doesn't appreciate anything that is done for her or given to her.

fa-la-la ladies and gentlemen

This site saved me when I was trying to come to grips with fact that my fiance was never going to be a father , but instead a drinking buddy, wallet and babysitter for his children(I am all for babysitting grandkids, but aren't you supposed to be allowed to say no without fear of the kids getting ticked off?)
Anyway I want to thank Dawn for starting this, and thank all the souls that after being pushed by this or that sought this place.

She signed....

SD's mother signed the papers yesterday giving us full physical custody. She moves away today.

I've been dealing with her for 10 years. She's been hard. DH and I are both a little in shock.

She will be paying us cs, she pays half of all medical and half of college and she pays for all of SD's visitation travel, all of it.

Like I said, we are a little in shock.
