So pissed off

Skids went to their BM this weekend. When they got home both had one red eye. I asked why and they said maybe pinkeye. I was like WHAT???? Can people get pink eye in 3 days? Of course the bitch sends them home to us to deal with it. Can't this woman be responsible for her own kids for once instead of always putting shit on me and HB?!! Now my 3 kids will probably get it too!

Nine times out of ten, ss comes home from Bm's with some kind of sickness or problem. I'm always the one that has to deal with it. Whether it's a cold, broken glasses, lost PE shorts, etc. and ss always tells his mom that WE will take care of it. Of course she doesn't question that. They both know that sure enough, old Dawn will fix the problem.

I know that it's good that ss knows I'm dependable but some of these things can and should be taken care of when they happen and not wait until he can bring the problem back to me.

SS10 got it when their dog killed a possum in their yard & then licked his hand. You can also get it from feces. Bottom line it's from not washing your hans very good. They need to go in to the Dr & start on eye drops immediately as it is highly contagious. The whole time he had it I would not let him hold his baby brother & he had to wash his hands often & use handsanitizer often.

Pinkeye has many causes -mainly viral, bacterial, or allergic. It's possible the kids were exposed several days to weeks ahead just like any bug. I would just take them to the Dr for treatment but be forewarned if it's viral there might not be any drops. Unfortunately, kids get sick easily from not washing their hands (ever see that comercial about kids whispering all the gross things they do without washing their hands?) I don't think you can narrow down when they caught it. Unfortunately, BM didn't bother to take them to Stat care as she should have as soon as they started having symptoms. We have had that problem with SD in the past. The last one was SD having broken her finger at school on the playground and BM (a nurse) saying she just jammed it. By the time DH picked up SD the next day it was black and unbendable.

I understand your frustration. This is just one of many illness things we all encounter when our kids live in two different homes.

My BF kids had it and BM tried to send them to our house saying that the congunctivitis was not contagious. I simply said that as long as the eye is red it is contagious.

1. Make sure you get eye medicine
2. Make sure they dont touch their eyes and if they do wash their hands frequently
3. Wash all bed sheets and linens

I wish I could sell her for what she thinks she is worth,
I'd be a millionare twice.

Is a symptom, simply describing red conjunctiva. Commonly known as pinkeye, not every form of it is created equal. Sometimes someone has a cold and the symptoms manifest in their eye. So the same symptom of the same bug will not necessarily manifest exactly the same in every patient. Just like an ear infection is not "contagious" b/c the ear ache is a symptom of an infection that settles in the ear- meaning someone else getting the same bug may end up with a sore throat instead. The causes of conjunctivitis are usually contagious like any bug (unless it's allergic conjunctivitis) but with handwashing you can keep it from spreading. I worked around the most contagious most extreme cases of conjunctivitis for 6 years and never got it. Some forms of it are very dangerous, most are not serious. It also may not be treatable by antibiotic drops either, same as any viral cold these days you may just have to wait it out. Most cases look worse than they actually are and resolve on their own. But it's always good to have an Ophthalmologist check it out to make sure it's not a serious one. A pediatrician may not know what kind of conjunctivitis it is because they don't have a slit lamp and proper drops/tests available to diagnos it.

I had not seen the children and I was explaining to her that if the eye is red it is contagious.
she said she took them to the doctor and had gotten some antibiotic drops for their eyes (therefore it was a viral infection) and that, that day they were not contagious.

I wish I could sell her for what she thinks she is worth,
I'd be a millionare twice.

to all. I was just so irritated that she shucked her responsibilities once again. HB called to ask BM what's up with this crap cause this isn't the first time. First it was head lice during the summer. She pleaded the fifth of course. IDIOT!!!!!
