51 weeks

klinder180's picture

Wow how time flies -- I just noticed that it is 51 weeks and 3 days since I joined Step Talk.

Last year at this time I had moved out of the ex gf's house and was wondering what had hit me. I now have a better grasp on it and my life is really good. Dated a very wonderful lady after the ex gf and learned a really good lesson about Skids.

If they don't want to change and their parents dont want them to change then nothing a step will do will change the situation. Except the step will suffer.

Huge change

Just to let everyone know, I had Lasik surgery yesterday. Everything went fine. Still recovering, but this way I get a four day weekend!

So since July of last year, I have lost 22 lbs and had the eye surgery. Don't know if I look any better yet because I can't see, but people tell me I do!

An Ex Step Parent's Lament or Cry me a River...

klinder180's picture

Well, I was really bothered by why so suddenly last year the ex gf became angry with me. Suddenly in about October of last year I became "He Who Shall Not Be Named" or "The Most Evil Person" in the world. We had an almost four year relationship and one of the main sources of troubles were her kids terrible temper tantrums. I moved out in May of last year during one of those fights. Why did I suddenly become terrible in October and not earlier in the year?

Counseling

Since so many posts have been about counseling and the good/bad effects of it recently I thought I would add this enlightening little tidbit.

Marriage Counseling

A husband and wife came for counseling after 15 years of marriage. When
asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate, painful tirade
listing every problem they had ever had in the 15 years they had been
married.

Sometimes there are not words to describe the emotions something evokes....

Judge Rules Mistrial In China Arnold Case
Jill Del Greco, Reporter

DAYTON, Ohio -- A judge declared a mistrial Monday in the case of a woman accused of killing her month-old baby by burning her in a microwave, finding that new defense witnesses bolster her innocence claim.

Judge John Kessler made the decision after hearing testimony privately from a juvenile who said he was at the apartment complex of defendant China Arnold on the August 2005 night that her infant died.

Wow, this year is busy....

Well, ten days down in the new year and I feel like things have been a whirlwind. We had three new file cabinets delivered today at the office and one of my employees is going to the hospital tomorrow to have labor induced. Nine months have seemed to fly by here and it seems like yesterday she was telling us she was pregnant.

And here we complain about our Christmas....

Septic tank snares D.M. man

BY TOM BARTON

Christmas Eve downright stunk for Robert Schoff of Des Moines, but he was able to laugh about it by Tuesday.

Firefighters had to rescue the 77-year-old when he got stuck in the opening to his septic tank.

He had dug a hole and reached inside to find a clog when he lost his balance and became wedged.

"It wasn't good, I'll tell you what," said Schoff, of 4300 N.E. 27th St. "It was the worst Christmas Eve I've ever had,"

Christmas

My mother came up for Christmas and my daughter is here for most of the week. Its so nice not to have to worry about whether the ex gfs kids are going to throw a fit or when. Its nice not to have to worry about whether they will like what they got or throw a temper tantrum. Shopping for my daughter was much easier than shopping for three kids. My mom's presence has offered a calming influence on the home. Cookies and bratzels and the smell of other baked goodies fill the air.

Looking forward to 2008!

Just received word that the office space I was interested in will be available. Its a historic home on 6th street built in 1883. The developer has got arrangements to place it on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Yes, right now it is in disrepair and needs a lot of work but it will be one of the most beauitful office buildings in Springfield when it is done. My life is moving in the right direction!

Change of scenery and improving the quality of life!
