I'll start...I'm pretty simple.
I'm Colorado Girl... well because I live in Colorado.
My avatar is the fire dancer from the Dave Matthews Band.
Well because I love, love DMB and am inspired as a constant by his music and lyrics.
So I suppose I'm as creative as him in what he called his band in the assigning of my screen name.
Anyone else?
I raised three bio kids on my own for 17 years when I stumbled upon him! Although his idea of a romantic gift in a new air conditioner or an oil change, it is always done with the soul of a man taking care of his lady. It is always for my comfort or safety that makes those less than heart stopping gifts all the more precious. Through three years of courtship he brought me into faith, forgiveness and acceptance and became the ONE person in this world that loved me BEYOND anything I had ever experienced and I thank GOD daily for him.
in our family, they call me by my first name. guess that is what we set up way back when i was introduced to them, and we never really thought much of it...but i've noticed that a lot of skids call their stepparents by pet names, or even "mom" or "dad" (which would absolutely freak our BM out).
anyway, just curious about how this works in other homes.
We have my stepkids (ss7, sd5) every tuesday night, thursday night and every other friday/sat/sun until monday morning. (I feel like that sentence is burned into my brain, I have repeated it so many times in my life....)
Where are you? I haven't seen you in quite a while!
Take care
Well, it all turned out OK. BM showed up with her father (SK's grandfather) almost late. Parked where they weren't suppose to park, therefore blocking in the caterers and Justice of the Peace. Then she walked up to my husband and I and pretended to be really sugary nice to us. Talk about being uncomfortable! Oh, and she made googly eyes at my little boy. That really creeped me out.
Just wanted to check in and say Hi! to everyone I have missed! Hope you are all doing well!
Ok! I am so excited!!! I dont know if anyone remembers me posting about my sd and her bathing/hair washing ordeals...i'll explain again.
I am a widow dating a divorced man who has two teenagers. He has 50/50 custody with his ex. His EX has made it a point to make the kids dislike me. Fortunately my boyfriend sees this. I am a good person and have tried to read/research on how to get along with his children as he has also. I, myself, have kids with only one under the age of 18yrs. The rest are grown and in college. My kids accept him in my life. They see we are good together and love one another. His family all like me and also accepts me. The only ones that do not are his two kids.
The other evening at dinner my Dh was eating a hot pepper wtih his meal, as he does almost every evening, and SD6 said "daddy can I have one?" he said "Sure, they are kinda hot" she says "Its ok, I like them!" so he gave her one, she ate it, and all was fine.
