Giving up

This is my first blog. I am so worried that I am not going to be able to do this anymore. My biggest problem (I believe) is that I am just too old to take all of this on. Although I am a very active 51 year old and work out six days a week, the emotional toll at this stage in my life feels overwhelming. We have no outside help as neither of us have any family and so we have these two kids 24/7. Anyone with a similar situation?

United front with BM, leeway for SS16 both history - BM need "her time"

Two weeks ago SS had an incident with BM, and BM, SO, and I all went to the police station together. SO had not been speaking to BM or SS at all, but he backed BM up on this issue with SS, and so did I.

A couple nights later - the day BM got summoned to juvenile court with SS - SS actually came over here, and he and SO have been speaking on the phone since then a few minutes almost daily. SO has also been speaking with BM trying to support her with SS and figure out how to handle the hearing.

Another angry weekend with the SS11

just keep me sane's picture

I took good advise last week and took all of SS11's stuff away until his behavior rallied. I set down new rules and new consequences with it. SS11 was good all week till yesterday- Dad was home and the shit started when he started back talking me early morning after being asked to take a shower ( he was going to a party at 10 a.m.) and clean up his room. Dad gets up and asks whats the problem now " nothing" . SS11 has been horrible all day, fighting with Dad. I have never seen so much hate and standoff between father and son than I saw last night.

I thought I was different, but I was WRONG....

When I first met DH, I knew that he has a grown daughter going to college. He was supporting her and trying to help her to finish it. He said he made a promise to his daughter that he will help her to the end (college). I agreed and thought he was a responsible father. Man, was I wrong. Now, a year later, she had finish her college, but still no job coming (guess who is fliping the bill). In the beginning our relationship, I thought I can deal with it. I mean she's not living with us. How bad can it be? Was I wrong! I thought she can final get the hell out of his pocket book.

Dh will miss Halloween

So it's not a big deal compared to other things. And I should be grateful that I haven't had to see ss as much lately. At least one visit the last two months dh has spent visitation with ss at mil's while the kids and I stay home. (we live in a different town than ss and it is just MUCH easier notto travel with 3 kids!) It is just how things have worked out and I have enjoyed only seeing ss once a month! Anyway, this weekend he comes again. Unfortunately Halloween is on Sunday- travel day. Meaning dh leaves by 4 to get ss home at 6 then gets back home a little after 8.

Stepdads here??

sixteensmom's picture

Curious if there are any evil or fantastic stepdads here and your perspectives. To be fair, am I just one of those evil step moms who thinks her kids are perfect (they're not) while yours stink? I'm tempted to point dh to this site to read other dads situations, but not sure we have many dads here?

Product of a One Night Stand, desperate for someone to relate

MIP3313's picture

A year into dating my future husband, we were serious looking into getting married. But a phone call arrived and my FH was being told he needed to have a paternity test. Well to make a long story short, the child was his...a product of a one night stand. So here we are together, trying to support one another as our lives are turned upside down. I love him and told him that we should put off any engagement for a year. A year later, he decideds it is time to propose. Of course I said yes because I love him with every ounce of my heart.

I dread...

the knock on the door tomorrow at 9AM when SS5 is dropped off.
dealing with SS5 Stepdad.
the 10 minutes it takes for SS5 to climb into car & put on seatbelt (& another 10 minutes to climb out.)
the eventual inevitable whine "Iiimmmmmm Huuuuunnnnnnggggggrrryyyyyyyyy......."
the crying that will start when SS5 cannot figure out how to turn on TV/change channel/etc.
BS9's reaction when he realizes it is a SS5 day.
BS9's frustration when SS5 insists on following him everywhere, every minute - even into the bathroom.
