Do skids hold grudges forever?

SeeYouNever's picture

Do stepkids ever get over grudges or do they just keep getting worse?

Lately SD14 has always got a grudge against DH for one thing or another. Sometimes she's not outright angry but acting like DH needs to grovel to get back on her good side. The worst thing is BM is totally encouraging this by saying things like "SD told me to tell you..." to DH. BM seems to live this type of petty drama and reliving her dramatic teenage days.

Social media and reality

My DH's main FB pictures were of him and SD and were 8 year old pictures, SD14 was 6 in the pictures. It bothered me after a while because even someone who isn't very interested in FB still should have a recent-ish picture.  We got married, had two kids, and his pictures were still just him and SD.

A while ago I mentioned that they were old and he should update them because he's recently become more active because of work. It's all wholesome stuff, I'm not concerned about that.

Yet another birthday, and a surprise SD visit

Birthday season is almost over...

This past weekend was MILs birthday. She's a bit of a drama queen but she's alright.

We planned to do a wine an charcuterie party for her. The plan was to hang out at my nice SILs house for the afternoon but leave at about 7 so we wouldn't throw off our kids' routine.

My DH has a shiney new spine for dealing with his family so I wasn't too worried about drama.

Update to SILs wedding

DH is with me on not wanting to spend thousands to travel with our little kids to Spain for the wedding. I don't think we could get passports in time if we wanted to. He'd love to see Spanish SIL but we won't get to spend time with her around the wedding because she'll be busy so he'd rather just decline and stream the wedding. He also doesn't want to travel without me.

SILs wedding planned around BM's schedule

Ok strap in, this is the start of some DRAMA. I fully expect this issue to continue for at least a couple months.

My SIL is getting married. I haven't even wrote about this particular SIL before (I have so damn many of them) she is from my FILs second marriage (DH, meddlesome SIL and another nice SIL are  from his third) and I have met her only twice. She's actually the nicest of my SILs and seems to be FILs favorite. She lives in Spain and the wedding will be there. I guess I'll call her Spanish SIL.

Beggar with a shotgun

SD14 has been talking about getting a car for her 16th birthday since she was 9 or 10.

Well I have a 2016 car that would line up well to give her since we'll probably want a new one around then. For now it's DHs daily commuter car and we have another bigger family car that I drive daily and we drive on the weekends.  I offered it but DH said she's expecting a new car and probably won't want it. Of course we then talked about how neither of us got new cars as teenagers and if she expects a new car then it's BM or her parents problem to buy her one.

In case if divorce photos

My SIL never misses a chance to take pictures of my family without me in it. I can't tell you how many times I have returned from going to the bathroom to see her having a photoshoot with my family.

Yesterday she made a group chat with my DH and I and sent a few pictures from the birthday party this weekend, just pictures, she didn't write anything.

2 we're of DH and SD, 2 we're of DH, SD and our kids, and the final one was all of us but I was half cut off on the edge. I remember her taking these pictures and jumped myself into the group.

Rude SILs and SD14

My sister in laws (plus SD14) are some of the the biggest jerks ever. My DHs birthday was this weekend and SD14, BM and SIL ignored him and didn't return any calls this week. They had organized for SD14 to come to her cousins' birthday and DH was not a part of the planning dispite being her father and it being his birthday weekend.

OT Funny - "Family Member"

One of our good friends is great, but asks a lot of questions. My DH is a bit of a bragger and name dropper, but as soon as someone asks enough questions it becomes evident he's full of it. I think he just expects people to be impressed and then leave it at that. My DH dug himself in a hole yesterday and I let him do it because it was entertaining >:D

Discussing sports, which I don't particularly care about... They were discussing the possibility of going to a game.

DH: (bragging) I have a family member that works for the owner of (team).
