What I am really Liking!

Cover1W's picture

After SDs leave after their EOW weekly visit?

Picking up all the crap left around the living areas and putting it in the attic.
I have one full bag, and next time, I can start another!
In April, it'll all go to donation because have they missed ANYTHING? No.

DP ended up making SD11 lunch for her yesterday. We had agreed SHE needed to do so.
I didn't say one word. It's all on him from this point forward.

Weekend non-lunch

DP did so good this weekend with SD9.

SD9 refused to eat lunch on Saturday. We were out running errands and DP suggested 3 lunch options to SD9. All of which were do-able.

She said "No. I don't want that" to all three.

So DP ended up getting a bag of carrots at the store, handed them to her and said, "Eat these."

YAY! He got a big kiss for that one. He would have never done this even 6 months ago.

...SD9 also refused a couple lunch options the next day. So guess what, no lunch again. Amazing how that works.

DP is warned

Reminded him his evening that I am not making SD11s lunch. He asked if there was anything she could use for her lunch. '
Me: Yes, there are some random things (I named them) but I told her to give us a list yesterday or this morning of what she wanted and we'd make sure we had it. I never got a list.'
DP: silence and incoherent mumble.
Me: she hasn't even thought about her lunch. She HAS to FAIL and you have to let her before she will learn. She's old enough to do it herself, it's just easier for her to let someone else do it.

Done with Lunches

SD11 came home with lunch barely touched. This is after I worked with her on what she wanted. She told her dad a story about some event during lunch time that they weren't allowed to bring their lunches to.
So taking her at her word (the school district here is really bad at keeping a free lunch period for kids) I said I was going to contact the principal about it (I am with an advocacy group to fight the abysmal lunch system).
SD11 pipes up: Actually they let us bring our lunches to the gym.
DP: So you could eat then?
SD11: yes, but no one hardly was.

School Lunches

Due to our schedules, I do help DP get the girls lunch bags together when they are with us, most of the time – but not all of the time. He does dishes most evenings and helps them with breakfast in the mornings (I KNOW THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THIS THEMSELVES which is why I don’t do breakfast for them at all any longer, unless I want something yummy for myself).

More Discussion of Cover1

Cover1W's picture

As we got further along in discussions about travel, it came out that SDs have been really upset with my whole presence since late fall; telling their dad how much I am disliked and hate how I do things and basically hate me. This verifies/totally validates what I was feeling starting around then too. Cover1W is still here! What now? SHE cooks things OTHER THAN plain pasta!? She spends time alone with DP? She doesn’t let us make the living room into a mess whenever we want since we don’t want to clean up? We have to brush our teeth? She’s horrible.

Car Door

DP was in the habit of closing the car doors for SDs, all the time, when I met him. I finally have mostly got him to STOP doing that for them because they would NEVER close the doors themselves. At 7 & 9 they were old enough to do so.

SD9 now pretty much does it herself with little prompting.
SD11? Not so much. I have to remind her 98% of the time if I am driving with her.

Homework

I was forwarded an email exchange about SD9 homework issues by DP.

Teacher: What are your expectations for SD9 to do her homework? She only completed about 20% of her homework...etc., etc...On Valentine's Day she did not bring her Valentine's for classmates, as she said she left them in DP car...etc., etc.

BM: "SD9 has time at the after school program Mon/Tues to do homework. SD9 also says she has time during SD11 after school class. I know that Thurs is not a good night...She may also be doing her homework, but not handing it in."
