End of Weekend

Cover1W's picture

Most of the weekend was a blessed disengagement period.
I know DP noticed, but I had a ton of things to do myself, and a friend of mine was visiting Sunday afternoon.

The only thing I did was prep strawberries for me and SD9 because I like them too.
Had SD9 eat a couple cherries...so she's doing well with fruits and more veggies and she actually likes trying new things even though she doesn't always like them. Cherries are a good add.

Insane Morning but I Drove Away

I have had an oil change scheduled for my car this morning for two weeks. On the calendar.
SD11 had a birthday party to get to about the same time, again, known about for weeks. On the calendar.
Discussed plan Thurs/Fri with DP so we know the plan since we are going opposite directions.
I will go for oil change, order new dishwasher and go to Costco.
He will drop off SD9 at friends house on his way out and take care of SD11 drop off and pick up.

Disengaged Thursday Evening

Ok, I am back on track.

1) SD9 left her shoes right in front of the front door AGAIN. I simply threw them down the stairs.

2) Had to get something from SD9s room, where I saw two full cups of old, gross lemonade on her desk. I left them. I did check SD11 room too (no food is allowed) and found a chocolate wrapper on the floor and a 1/2 full bag of cheese doodles on the floor. I left them too.

Reminder to Self: Disengage or go CRAZY

Well, I totally engaged myself yesterday. My "clean freak" side came out and I lost it.

1) SD9 and her friend were playing outside and created a big pile of crap. Stuff from inside the house, not allowed told 10x over and over, stuff collected from outside and piled under her bedroom window for future use. This is in front of the house. Left 2 cups on the front stairs. I dumped cups and threw them into the pile.

Teen Food Issue

...and we're off!

SD11 put back an empty milk carton into the fridge. This was found AFTER I got home from the store (she must have put it back after she had her morning cereal and was the only one to use it) on Sunday afternoon. The empty carton/bag thing has been a new ongoing issue with me and DP (I put it on him to fix) regarding SD11 in the last couple months.

Funnies...(slap my hand over my face please...)

SD9, while we are brushing our teeth last night (she tends to follow me and brush teeth when I do which I find hilarious actually): ...random complaint about toothpaste flavor...
Me: Well, if you weren't so picky about what flavor you want, it would be easier to get a toothpaste for you.
SD9: I liked the other one I had.
(It was very expensive and she tends to mess with it and waste it, and it's got no flouride but got her brushing on a regular basis)
Me: Well, it had no flouride in it.
SD9: What is flouride?

Middle School Decision

We found out last week that BM agreed to let SD11 go to the middle school near us! This is a big deal since now she'll be at a BETTER SCHOOL and be able to attend after-school clubs and activities, and be able to get a little more independence. It'll also make DP's "kid commute" a little easier; although we'll now have SD9's schedule to deal with (DP and I already agreed to split the work on that one since SD11's will make things easier).

A new week...

SDs come back from BM week back to nuts status. Home a wreck when I walk through door. DP steps on a couch pillow instead of picking it up. Then is irritated at me for saying something. Nope, doesn't work like that. Pick. It. Up.

Sd11 was actually ok so surprisingly no complaints with her.

Training DP not SDs

So that is the issue.

Came home today and found dining table a mess with breakfast dishes and food still all over. The kitchen was equally bad with DPs breakfast stuff all over counter and on coffee table. SD11 has been making her lunches but cleaning up is another issue. Her lunch mess took up the rest of the other counter and part of stove. Stool was in middle of kitchen.

So I left it ALL. I made dinner around everything. DP comes home lamenting his hard day (made by his own sweet but unfocused self). After he calmed down he mentioned something about the kitchen.
