Tales of the Spoiled

BettyRay's picture

This is what I witnessed this morning  :

DH jumps out of bed and hurries getting dressed.

DH runs outside and starts SS16’s car.

DH comes back inside and wakes the skids up.

DH gets skids lunches (which he made last night) out of the fridge and puts one in each skid’s backpack.

DH goes back outside and gets SS12’s ski stuff out of SS16’s trunk and brings it in. (The stuff has been in there over a month and both skids keep “forgetting” to bring it into the house.)

Extraordinary Minimum Effort - my new term for SS16

DH and I both worked yesterday. SS16 and SS12 were home all day.

DH asked SS16 to shovel; we got about 4 inches of snow.

DH is on the phone with me last night when he pulls into our driveway. DH’s tone changed, so I asked him what’s wrong…

SS16 shoveled 2 tracks “tire paths” from the street to the garage.

DH was steamed but SS16 had already left for his part-time job.

Update - Driving into a Fight

Thanks for all your responses.

DH had calmed down by the time I got home last night. He actually admitted the boys need to help out and wants to sit down with them this weekend and discuss it. DH also said he's going to make the boys helping around the house his New Year's resolution. He talked about doing the chore jar again. Honestly - I don't think anything will change.

Driving into a Fight

Just spoke with DH and went off on him about the lazy skids.

Christmas was nice but last night threw me over the edge. Background: SS16 & SS12 have no chores at our house. Every time I tried to DH would slack off and stop backing me up so I gave up. My fault - I know - I just get tired of being the harpy SM/wife. So DH and I are Burt the butler and Molly maid.

Blue Christmas

1. Rejoice, rejoice BM has a boyfriend.

He was at SS12’s Christmas concert. The way BM treated him answers a lot of questions for me. Yet again she brought up another story of something that happened when DH and she were married. That no one else would know or care about – BTW.

SIL is an entitled evil adult COD

BettyRay's picture

A little background information so you won't be confused - my sister is gay and her partner of almost 10 years is a COD.

SIL decided 2 weeks ago that she didn’t want to spend Thanksgiving at my Mom’s. SIL decided that they should spend it with their friends instead.

Fine – but they had already accepted my Mom’s invitation.

My sister brought it up to me and I told her to just tell Mom the truth that you made other plans OR suck it up and spend Thanksgiving with us.

Teenage Attitude or DH Grew a Spine

DH recently agreed to let SS16 purchase GTA5. Part of the deal was that DH would play it with SS16 before DH agreed to let SS16 keep it. So SS16 brought the game and his xbox over Friday night. As SS11 was going to a Boy Scout camp out Saturday night, DH and SS16 were going to play it then, while SS11 was gone. (The other part of the deal is that SS16 cannot playing it in front of SS11.

Rewarding the Mediocre

BettyRay's picture

So SS11 is struggling, 6th grade has not been kind to him.

A little background: SS11 is the baby of the family; he has ADD – very mild and easily controlled with meds; and he’s always had BM and DH making excuses for his less than stellar academic career.

I’ve stepped back from trying to parent, I used to be the “homework nag” – my term for it. But I stopped last year. Nobody was happy, most of all me, so I decided to let it go.

SS11 is currently failing 2 classes and has D’s in 2 others.

Milestone Moment this Morning

BettyRay's picture

SS16 drove himself and SS11 back to BM’s this morning! Smile

It was bittersweet for DH. He was sad that he wasn’t driving them back but happy that he did have to leave super early to get them back to BM’s and himself to work on time.

SS16 approached us about buying our beater car, we were going to sell it as I just bought a new used car DH is now using my old car.

OT - Completed my first 5K!

BettyRay's picture

Last night DH and I competed in a 5K for charity.

My time was 30min.17sec.

DH's was 33min.

I just wanted give a thank you and a shout-out to Katrinkie2 - she helped me to beleive I could do it. A 5K is nothing compared to the races she competes in, but for me this is huge.

I started running a couple of years ago to relieve stress when the skids were around - who knew it would lead to this Smile
