Yeah, done retrieving things

Cover1W's picture

For SD11.

Last night DP stomps in with SDs all a-twitter about SD11.
Apparently he and she got into it at a ferry terminal building (we live on an island and rely on the ferry); she refused to carry her own smallish lunch bag to the car. DPs hands were full and she only had her backpack on (and hands free).

...I warned him last year about this very scenario since he coddled them by carrying all their bags all the time....but you know, I don't say anything about this...

Yeah, done doing Laundry

Cover1W's picture

For SD11.

The rule has been laundry in your laundry basket and I'll do it (I like doing laundry, hate vacuuming so DP and I struck a deal) - this includes DP.

SD9 has been great about it from the start.
SD11 was good until about a month ago.
Last week, there were three socks a pair of underwear and one pair of leggings after a stay of 5 days with us - the rest of it all over her floor. Room getting messier.

Babysitting class

Cover1W's picture

DP: SD11 I have an idea of how you can make money....goes on to explain some online stuff
Me: So babysitting is out? (I've paid for a class back in the spring, before I totally stopped paying for stuff, AND had at least two paying jobs for her no one did anything about)
SD11: I'm too busy (which she promptly took back in my withering stare).
DP: I'm trying to prepare her for the next generation of jobs.
Me: I want my $40 reimbursed for the class I paid for, tomorrow.

SD11 to help around house? HA!

So DP said the other day, "Yeah it's reaching critical mass with SD11 and cleaning."
She's spending more time here and more time alone here with zero responsibility. I've made it clear I am not a maid and have been doing well NOT helping with her mess.

Today DP comes upstairs with his arms full of glassware from SDs rooms. Me, "What are you doing? That's their stuff they need to clean it not you. How in the world are they supposed to learn if you keep doing it for them...oh 'daddy will do it no big deal...'" DP, "yes you are right I've got to stop that."

Wednesday Dinner

And I kept my mouth firmly shut the whole time.
It was very hard, but success!
I was happy after dinner and DP had to deal with it.

Get home, SD11 watching a movie LOUD volume.
Her new coat and lunchbag were just laying on the floor by the front door, I ignored.
Eventually I start dinner, thanks to DP he had already made part of it so easy.
Meatballs (lamb/beef), wild rice and green peas.
SD11 asked what was for dinner, "Meatballs, rice and peas."
SD11, "OK."
(I knew she wasn't going to touch ANYTHING but not my issue)

Day of Me

Cover1W's picture

After a stupid Friday night and yesterday today I told DP I am doing nothing but what I want to do. While this unfortunately will not involve yoga it will involve organization of the garage (which I love to do and will involve some contortions and heavy lifting). I will cook my favorite soup for dinner no matter what.

Foods for YOU

Cover1W's picture

So since I've been fixating on the last food blog about having to keep skids out of food stashes (an amazing recurring theme!) what do you buy that NO ONE else in the house likes to guarantee you have that item(s)? So you have at least some kind of a treat for yourself on hand?

Laundry learning

Cover1W's picture

SD11 will start learning next weekend. Piles of laundry, sheets, towels, clothes, overflowing her laundry basket. First time this has happened.
Don't mind running her things within reason but holy mother I don't even have that much after a full week let alone three days...

So Far, So Good

Since the start of school, there's been very little drama.

I had to do some shuttling of SD9 to/from school but that was discussed with DP before I agreed to do it and he made some concessions for me in return. This is the key, I'll do it for a good reason but not if DP "just doesn't feel like it." Because I "just feel like doing it for you?" No. DP is getting that loud and clear.
