The Letter to Loony

WalkOnBy's picture

First draft - feel free to make suggestions.

Where to start, where to start? I guess the beginning is probably best. In the spring of 1972, your father showed up at our home in Novi. You were 3 and Michael was 6 weeks old. He told my family that he and your mother were having trouble getting along. He asked my mother if she could keep you and Mike “for a little while until Pat and I get things worked out.”

Loony, Loony, Loony

I swear to Dog if I didn't know better, I would swear she is a skid.

We got an offer on my grandmother's condo. I met my mom and my agent at the condo last night. As I was driving over there, my dad called me. "Uh, who wrote the obituary for Grandma?"

me - no one. She didn't want one. What are you talking about?
dad - oh, shit. well, there's a very long and interesting one that was in Sunday's paper
me - WHAT????? I will call you back.

Loony rears her ugly head....

I was sitting on my sofa last night, about to have a glass of wine when my daughter texted me "have you talked to Grandma?" Well, of course I had, so I answered "yup." My daughter texted back "can you believe Loony? WTF is her problem?"

The sound of silence

I am sitting here in the solitude of a very lovely and a brand-new hotel. I checked in after work, changed my clothes, went next-door to the restaurant to have dinner and a few drinks and now I'm back in a very comfy bed, in my pajamas watching television.

Just a few minutes ago the enormity of my grandmothers death has hit me. I went into safe mode when she died-I knew that I had to take care of business, clean out her condo, get it ready to be listed, try to protect my mother from her own pain. Most of that meant that I could not deal with my own pain.

I'm back - and thanks for the messages :-)

Been out of touch for a bit. My beloved grandmother passed away last week, as some of you know. To those who sent messages, thank you so much for your support. I am sorry that I couldn't respond to them, but I was up to my ass in cleaning out 94 years of a life in record time in order to get my grandmother's condo ready to be sold. Haven't even processed much of her passing just yet, haven't really had the time.

I see I didn't miss much while I was gone - lol!!

Medusa update...

So, the deadline for her responses to the financial discovery did not show up on time, and no, I am not the least bit surprised. A "reminder" letter went out to her yesterday, and next week, assuming that she doesn't respond, a motion to compel will be filed. I sense a lot of trips to the west side of the state in the future - lol!!

In other news, FOC finally got around to adding her share of BabyVoice's braces on to her account, so now she is $3503.26 in arrears.

MOTY, that one, MOTY...

Hurricane Loony has left the continental US!!!

And thank DOG she is gone.

She was nothing but rude and obnoxious to everyone from our family but played Grandaughter of the Year to the rehab facility staff. She and I avoided each other for the most part, but she was rude to both of my parents, you know, the PEOPLE WHO RAISED HER and I am nothing but grateful that she is back in Alaska.

Max showed up on Tuesday. He was an ass, too. I swear to Dog, if I didn't know better, I would think that they were PAS'd out skids from the way in which they behaved.
