Well, I've officially been without a vehicle since last Wednesday. I had to turn my plates in because my insurance company decided they no longer wanted to cover my boyfriend and canceled my entire policy-undenounced to me because I'm too stupid to open mail. :jawdrop:

So I turned in the plates on my car to avoid the fine (Bite Me NYS) over something that literally has nothing to do with me. I can't have my car for 18 days. This was no big deal originally, because I had my mom's spare car-which turned into a smoking/burning death trap last week.

You know, I didn't get a manual either. People always say-kids don't come with instructions-well-neither does step-parenting. If you've never been the type that fly by the seat of your pants, are faint of heart or have a problem with pie in the sky -then this gig isn't for you. There is no single "best practice" or even a compass and I don't aspire to provide one. My aspirations are much more simple-to describe the elephant in the room.

So SS11 has been living with us consistently for a little over a month. BM was supposed to get him last weekend and was a no call no show ALL weekend. He didn't seem to care much. So coming off that, we were nervous to see what the week would hold.

So in addition to CPS being involved for truancy, SS11 was sent home sick yesterday from school (we've had the stomach bug in our house SO had it the day prior) and he can't go to school for 48 hours.

I picked him up as I was bringing my BD to daycare and got him home, settled in and set up with all the things a sick kid could need (ginger -ale, ice chips, The Price is Right etc.) and we had an okay day apart from the intermittent vomiting.
