Hi ladies-
I just wanted to wish you a happy holiday and the best of luck over the next week!

I am the SM with the SD15 and SS16/BM died on Mother's day/skid moved from another state with us over the summer.

Things are OK. Some days better than OK, some days not. We are all still figuring it out. We took the kids away for t-giving to some other relatives in the SW (we are in the NE) and kept them super busy doing fun stuff around the desert.

Am I over reacting??? quick recap- my BM died this past Mothers day and SS16 and SD15 moved to our state this summer to live with DH and I. (how they are doing is a story for another day but things have been OK)

I have been nothing but gracious and accommodating through this whole ordeal. I sorted and stored away many items from BM that skids claim to not want, but may wish they had once they are adults. (Christmas ornaments, knickknacks from BM house, photos etc...)

I know all the SM's on here have used the phrase "Special Snowflake" for so long it had got me thinking did that woman who recently wrote the "Snowflake Generation" article originate on Steptalk?? It was so spot on!!

I am the SM who's BM died on Mothers day and now SD15 and SS16 are moving away from home state to ours this summer permanently. Since everything went down skids now come to us every weekend and DH is just starting to get the taste and scope of what its going to be like to have a teen SD.

So Friday night was absolutely awful for DH and I - we told SS16 and SD15 that the doc was done giving their mom chemo, the cancer was in her brain, spine, bones...all the doc could do now was to make her comfortable, she had one or two months to live...it was so sad and DH held SS and I held SD and we just comforted them...so awful.

Heart breaking for skids...

Well the doc gave DH the news that treatment for BM is not working and all they can do is to keep her comfortable until she passes from the cancer. We are going to pick skids up from school together in their home state and tell them. We know that they know she is dying, but no one has yet "officially" told them b/c even we had hopes for a miracle. My heart is breaking for them. I have been crying all morning. I need to pull my $hit together ASAP.

divorce decree vs. court order CS?

Does anyone know what the difference is between having child support part of your divorce decree instead of an actual child support court order? My DH and his ex made it part of their divorce decree and there is no "court ordered" child support.
Now that she is terminally ill and the kids are no longer living with her our attorney advised DH to file for stopping child support, but when he called the courthouse they told him that he isn't in their child support system b/c he pays child support as part of the divorcee decree. So does that mean he cant stop??

how to protect skids from vile GBM

So my last post was about BM having terminal cancer and skids coming to live with us full time when she dies (prognosis 3-4 months)

We have gotten over the initial shock and we have worked VERY hard to show the kids we are both there for them and things have been going well at least in the relationship department with the skids.

Hi all, My last blog was almost 6 months ago...SS16 was having mental issues, blew my and DH's relationship issues in full force.

Status now: DH and I have been in counseling and working very hard at it. We are OK. Like a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 OK. I don't feel like I want to run out of the marriage anymore. (at least not all the time) Our counselor specializes in step families and has been wonderful...he will definitely be a resource for the below situation you read about....

SS15 - depressed goes on psych hold...ugh..

So SS 15 is depressed and more than likely overwhelmed...BM has cancer again (see previous blogs)GBM is quite ill, he is failing school (as usual) and his GF broke up with him. He went into the counselor and told them that he is depressed and sometimes feels like shooting himself...so off he goes to a 5 day stay in the psych ward. He gets out on a Monday and that Friday he posts a pix to social media of him and his buddies with some guns. I think they were the airsoft ones but still. BM is really on the ball over there...
