BioHo and the Beer Virus

Aniki-Moderator's picture

DH called me on his way to work. He took SS17 to a dentist appointment. SS17, after some hemming and hawing, said that BioHo wanted him to ask DH if the 'Ho House can shelter with us "when we all get quarantined with that beer virus". (I kid you not.)

DH: Son, it's not a beer virus.
SS: ~sighing~ I know, Dad, but that's what she texted.
DH: YOU can stay with us. Your mother (I can hear that "tone") and the others will have to stay at their house.
SS: I'll bring my generator just in case.
DH: Good idea.

OT - Eff Off Friday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Friday at last! Certainly seemed to take its time getting here. A coworker showed me a meme this morning that struck a chord... It was a picture of Wedneday Addams that said:

I have 2 reactions whe going out.

  1. Ew, the sun.
  2. Ew, the people.

I am DEFINITELY feeling that second one today!

OT - when kids are NOT invited...

Aniki-Moderator's picture

You and your spouse/SO are invited to an event. Kids are specifically NOT invited. What do you do?

  • Hire a sitter and attend
  • Do not attend
  • Take your kids anyway

When I married psycho exh, we married at the courthouse. So no guests. Our reception was at a bar. IOW, No One Under 18 Allowed. When we sent out invites asking people to come celebrate with us, we included a note that - I thought - was nice and not offrensive...

OT - Toxic T'ursday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

We’ve all had the misfortune of toxic people in our lives. They can appear in the form of coworkers, friends, and family members. You need to either eliminate these people from your life or learn how to deal with them effectively.

Toxic people are not caring, supportive, or interested in what’s important or best for you. Here are several ways that toxic behavior can manifest:

OT - Woman Wednesday

Happy Hump Day, STalkers. Hella long week. It's about halfway through the day for me and I can taste Friday like an habanero pepper on a cut on my tongue.

I know some of us are having a time right now, so I thought I'd share a couple of things from r.m. drake. Please feel free to share something that speaks to you or you find uplifting on a dark day.

"you have everything you need. yes, right now you feel a little empty and a little broken but you won't feel like that forever. count your blessings. so many people have it worse."

OT - blaming your past

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Quite often, people attribute their past experiences for who they are today. While the past can definitely alter what forks in our paths we choose, we also have the choice to NOT let the past cripple us. For some, instead of trying to move above and beyond what happened, they use it as an excuse.

"I had a crappy childhood"
"My parent/spouse abused me"
"I grew up in a bad neighborhood and that's all I know"
