GSD-15

Indigo's picture

History:  GSD-15 was raised by SO for the first 8 years, so she is much more a daughter to him than a granddaughter.  SO, myself, BS & GSD made a quartet --- the kids are within 18 months of each other. Recently, GSD lived with her bio-dad & SM in a town 1 1/2 hours away. SO maintained weekly visitation. SD-30+, her mother, is AWOL again with no address in a neighboring state.

GSD-15 has troubles.  Craptastic parents are likely 90% of it. Anyway, she was admitted to a state psychiatric hospital for a few weeks, then was transferred to an out-of-state teen home.

Considering how we can't add photos as glibbly as we might wish. I went to IMGUR. Never used it to post but looked at photos -- such as Monchichi's wedding.

I click on it & one of your SS's face appears.  Golly, I know this one --- scraggly beard, hat backwards, lumpish --- pot & beer or just general failure-to-launch.  if I remember correctly, this SS is not ignorant. That photo? Wow.

Trying to post a pic for Tankh -- incoming rescue mare. Horse, not boat.

How do you all share pics safely?

Any experience, feedback or opinions on:

1. DIY alarm systems: exterior doors, some windows (leading to roof).

2. Nanny cams: multiple rooms?

3. Internet restriction -- shut down w/o unplugging for others? (Currently Comcast)

4. TV restrictions --- parental controls: can limit when it is in use?

5. Home safes

6. Birth control for teen

SGS & Summer Horse Camp

Indigo's picture

Wish me luck. I invited SGS-8 & SGS-11 to join the summer week-long pony camp where I work. SO will pick them up at 6:45 am and drive them 75 miles down here to join camp. I will pack them lunch, water bottles, etc … and provide the horse instruction. SO will pick them up at 4pm drive them back every night. My BS-15 will assist as their mentor and shepherd, in addition to the regular teen counselors.

Why? Well, I had a brain-fart.

O/T: Inauguration -- "Letter to Sarah" --- non-denominational/non-partisan

Indigo's picture

One striking moment during today's inauguration was Sen Schumer's reading an excerpt of a letter from the Civil War. Written on the eve of the Battle of Bull Run, Major Sullivan Ballou's letter to his beloved wife Sarah is an incredibly moving snapshot of history, patriotism, and love. The letter speaks of love of cause, love of family, love of spouse and since here on STepTalk, we frequently mull over these issues, I am sharing it:
