So. I'll try to be concise.

Sunday afternoon, I felt like cooking, so I told DH he could invite all kids over if he wanted. I made a big Mexican spread and really enjoyed myself. We already had YSD there for the weekend...DH and SS were leaving right after lunch to head for the college visit, so I figured he should just invite all kids.

Oh BM. I Spoke Too Soon About SS and His Grand College Plans.

So - DH did NOT go on a college visit Sunday-Monday with SS.

Turns out, when he asked a few more questions of BM: 1.) SS did NOT have a tour set up - they just read on the website that the college gives general tours every Monday at 9 am and figured he could join in. On the same webpage, it ALSO says that they recommend scheduling a tour 2 weeks in advance to secure a spot. 2.) SS did NOT have anything set up with the program/department he's interested in - they called the Head of the Department and left a VM...probably because it was late Friday and no one was in.

Crud! I CAVED!!!!

Noooooooo!!!!!!!

After swearing to myself that this year I was going to leave it to the skids to arrange something for Father's Day...and telling them as much last week...I caved and texted them all yesterday about doing a lunch on Sunday. I literally told them last week...hey, let me know what you want to do for Father's Day and I'll help you make it happen. Then, not a peep...so I freaking caved and texted them.

Made it Through to the Other Side!

Tomorrow is the last day of SD's 2-week summer visitation! Woot, woot!

Of course, we'll still have her twice a month for the rest of the summer, and I'm sure she and the other two will drop by occasionally as they are apt to do...but the bulk of the disruption is done. WooHoo!

One more, year, and visitation will be a thing of the past.

BM Sends Crazy Email to DH on Mother's Day

So...I've been debating about posting this for a while...but what the heck.

I don't know what has come over BM lately...maybe because the youngest kid just turned 17 and she's facing an empty nest soon she's freaking out. SS19 is moving out next month...SD21 has been gone for a couple years now...

She sent DH this really weird email around Mother's Day entitled: "A Look Back" or some such title.

SS Is Soooooo AMAZING at Everything He Does.

Small vent.

We had SS19 over for dinner last night. When I say "we" I mean my husband invited him and told me a little over an hour before SS arrived...asked me to go get "something special" for him. On my dime, of course, since DH STILL hasn't been paid.

Anyway. I really don't care about that so much. We have a fairly open-door policy with friends and family. It's how I grew up so I don't really mind it. And DH did cook and do all the dishes.

So, on the way to have dinner at a friend's house last night, DH informs me that BM has asked DH if he "would like to contribute" $100 to YSD's birthday present...her birthday is tomorrow and DH has already gotten her a book and DVD. BM wants to get her a practice keyboard.

Oh Yeah. SD = 17 this week. Let the Countdown Begin!

I am officially one year away from no regular skid visits and the end of CS.

Woo-Freaking-Hoo.

Also, this year, I did not help DH out with birthday presents and parties at all. Last year, they got (youngest to oldest): A trip to NYC, new tires and a big party, a new iPhone 6. This year, they've all gotten a book and a DVD of a film they like and a bday lunch with DH. Just wanted to pat myself on the back for that accomplishment.
