OT - the little things

TheAccidentalSM's picture

Its the little things that make you happy.

I just took delivery of a new keyboard that I bought on black Friday online.  I'd been pondering buying it for a while now and went ahead this weekend even though it wasn't on sale.

Its wireless so no mess.  It'll work with my work computer and personal tech.  And the keys are just right when I type in terms of pressure and sound.  So my silly keyboard is making me so happy today. *man_in_love*

What are the slightly mad things that bring you joy?

The Wedding is back on

TheAccidentalSM's picture

DH took his sons out for a catch up lunch and came back full of news.  The wedding is back on.  MSS and fiancé are getting married after all.

They have drastically re-thought their plans.

New plans

  • Registry office (equivalent of going to the courthouse) for 12 people
  • Party at a pub (it’s a cute oldie worldie pub)
  • Pub lunch for 20
  • iplayer hooked into pub PA system
  • Friends invited after lunch

Old plans

OT - Police eviction

TheAccidentalSM's picture

Seriously, you would think I lived in the worst neighbourhood rather than a really lovely part of the city.  We have had a forced eviction this morning involving the police.  I feel bad for everyone; landlord, tenant and police.

But it was not a joy to be on teams calls with shouting and police sirens as the background "music".

Finally over but I think the person's possessions are going to be piled up in the lobby in garbage bags.

Two update on step life chez TASM

Two steplife incidents this weekend.  The first isn’t dramatic but make me think.

  1. DH had a lunch date with MSS and OSS

Every month or so DH meets up with his sons for a pub lunch.  (Think pies or fish and chips or roast)  I don’t go because I think that its their relationship not that I have any objection to the SSs.  As DH was heading out the door, I told him to have fun.  He just groaned and said “Its not fun”.  His sons generally never have anything much to say and nothing changes.

Partners are not a fixer upper

TheAccidentalSM's picture

Some of the latest blogs and forum posts have got me thinking.

Partners are not like a "fixer upper".   You can't change people the way you can change a house.  They basically are what they are at their core.  If they show you what they are, believe them.

I'm not saying you have to go for someone perfect.  But you do need someone with basic values.

OT - Dinner

What are you having to eat tonight?  I'm finding this is my main source of fun in the eternal hard lockdown we are experiencing in the UK.

I'm hovering between:

 - pea and bacon risotto

 - garlic and chilli tofu noodles.

Tomorrow I plan to make vegtable samosa and have an Indian feast
