OT - Dinner

TheAccidentalSM's picture

What are you having to eat tonight?  I'm finding this is my main source of fun in the eternal hard lockdown we are experiencing in the UK.

I'm hovering between:

 - pea and bacon risotto

 - garlic and chilli tofu noodles.

Tomorrow I plan to make vegtable samosa and have an Indian feast

The pea and bacon risotto sounds delicious!

We're having baked chicken and mashed potatoes with pepper gravy and biscuits. Probably another veg on the side.

I love chicken and really love mashed potatoes.  Do you make stock from the chicken carcass?  It works so well for a risotto or soup.

I've been cooking and baking so much more this past year. We pulled the breadmaker out so we are going to make pizza dough and make some homemade pizzas with whatever we have in the kitchen. I think I still have some truffle cheese so I'm eating fancy tonight!

That sounds so nice.  Truffle cheese pizza, YUMMY

I don't have the patience for bread making but I'll have to put some pizza bases on the grocery list.

Oh I love my breadmaker.  I make bread without it too but sometimes it's so nice to just throw the stuff in and press start.

SO loves bread - it's his crack! I only love bread from the breadmaker to eat on it's own. It's so delicious when so fresh.

I'm going to try and make some pound cake in the breadmaker soon!

Same my DH - he will eat, easily, a loaf of fresh bread in a day if I'm not watching him.

Ice cream & chocolate = same. He will eat vast quantities.

Oh, pound cake!  Mine has a bunch of sweet bread recipies too, the briioche turned out super yummy (that was MY loaf gone in two days - Need to share it).

Clarifying... there is no question (IMO) as to what the choice should be. Tofu vs Bacon. The winner is:

BACON!!! Yahoo

Every time! Especially is you're about to enter Lent and cannot eat bacon.

TheAccidentalSM's picture

I understand now.  You win.  It is definitely going to be bacon!

I'm off to cook NOW.  Even more hungry after this blog.  LOLZ

Have a great weekend.

Tonight is burgers, french fries and steamed broccoli with a decent red wine (tbd).

Keeping it simple since I'll be cooking most of the weekend - there's a roast meal in there somewhere.

No YSD!

Reading this thread.  We have leftovers from our SuperBowl Sunday munchies and are doing Happy Hour munchies for dinner tonight.

Not sure about tomorrow but Sunday is Valentine's Day and I'm making SO's favorites:  Chicken Marsala with homemade fresh pasta and steamed broccoli.  Bread pudding for dessert.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I am gong on strike from cooking this weekend, since DAH thinks that he can leave a mess in the kitchen.

But I am making roasted Garlic cloves in real butter, roasted Garlic Chicken, Lemon Garlic Kale salad with roasted almonds. By the way DAH hates Garlic and Almonds, there should be enough leftovers to last me the weekend. *diablo*
