MSS's wedding is tomorrow

*Sigh*

MSS's wedding is tomorrow and I don't want to go but I will put my game face on and turn up.

Reasons for not wanting to go:

  • My broken arm is hurting like you would not believe.  I'm still on post surgery painkillers and can't sleep.  The whole experience is making me very anti social. *diablo*
  • MSS's bachelor/stag party ended up being something out of a soap opera.  *dash1*  I can completely seeing the wedding reception going the same way:
    • MSS's Finance's sister's boyfriend (SB) decided to start verbally abusing Finance and sister's dad really badly.  MSS threw SB out of the venue and asked security not to let SB back in as he was too drunk and being a fool.  SB waited for MSS, STB FIL and other guests to leave several hours later.  SB tried to assult MSS.  MSS punched SB and knocked him out.  SB is no longer invited to the wedding.
    • Finance agrees SB can't attend wedding but rest of her family on her BM's side are causing drama about this.
  • I don't know anyone who is attending except DH, his brother, his two nieces and MIL.  I'd really like to leave it that way.  This will be the (maybe) 4th time I've ever been in BM's presence.
  • Because of painkillers I can't even have a glass of wine to dull the horrors.

But

I'm a grown up so I'll be there.  I've got hair and nails booked for first thing in the morning, bought a pretty dress and have a plan to put my arm in a very obvious sling so no one touches me.

I'm going to attend for as much as I need to and then make a quiet exit as soon as I can politely get away with it.

Wish me luck.

I hope its drama free too.  I'm so thankful its not a destination wedding so I can easily escape.

I think I'd be "sick" and respectfully send my regrets. But I get it. Sending peace and zero drama your way.

But I can't get out of it.  I've known the finance since she first got together with MSS when they were both about 16.  She's been on holiday with us and met my dad.  They are 28 now.

If I wasn't broken, I wouldn't mind going.

Thanks for the peace and zero drama thoughts.

I'll probably be in your position in the near future. And like you, I'll do the same. I will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Let us know when you are going to have to ensure the get together so we can all send you best karma thoughts!

In part I'm having hermit aniexty.  This will be my first time out of the house in a fortnight.  (The introvert in me is loving the excuse of a smashed arm to get out of having to leave the house)

Hey, bring your own popcorn and watch the shitshow! LOL

Kidding, I know you would much rather avoid the whole thing and just stay at home. You are a good wife to go support your husband!

I feel like I have to be supportive as he's been very good about being a nurse while I've been injured.

As I said to Cajun, if I was feeling better, I'd be ok with the whole thing.  I've know the girl since they were teens and generally she and MSS are relatively drama free.  Her family however seem to be a different story...

Maybe I'll bring a notebook to jot down the goings on to enterain you all with the wonderful world of SM weddings.

Is there some way to make your sling more obvious? Neon?  Sequins? Flashing lights?   Lol.  In any event, what a perfect excuse to leave early!

I'm making the sling out of a very lovely and colourful silk scarf.  It's going to be very obvious!

It is the silver lining that the injury gives me the absolute perfect excuse to scarper early.

SS got married this year and some of BMs family was invited. They are a crazy dramatic bunch. It all went very well and everyone had a great time. No drama at all. I wish the same for you!

How excellent to have no drama.

I'm hoping everyone remembers their manners, uses their indoor voices and are self aware enough not to create a scene worthy of a Jerry Springer episode.  Most of them came to YSS funeral and wake (we had an open bar at the wake) and managed to behave despite alcohol being involved so there is some hope.
