SS10 has a strange lump on his neck, and BM finally took him to the Dr this week as it's getting painful & is difficult for him to swallow. The Dr has referred him to a consultant at the hospital, and he's got his appointment on Monday morning. Now, with the NHS, they never move this quickly unless it's something potentially serious, I'm trying to convince myself that it's just because he's having trouble eating (and he's a skinny thing as it is) that they're moving fast with this, but the pessimistic side of me is worried about all sorts of other horrible things.

OH got stuck in horrendous traffic coming home from work yesterday, so I got a call asking if I could go pick SS10 up from his after school club as BM was at college. Wasn't particularly thrilled by this, but trotted round to get him & it meant we actually had a good 30 minutes of one-to-one time.

BM phoned last night to say that she had treated SS10 for headlice (after waiting a week as we spotted one just before he went home last weekend!) and could OH bring his clippers round to cut SS10's hair before the 2nd treatment in a week's time. OH however, annoyed her by not immediately agreeing - firstly he doesn't want to use his clippers on SS10 until all the head lice are gone (unsurprising, as he doesn't want them) and that as last time he spoke to SS10 he wanted to grow his hair longer he would talk to him himself before cutting his hair anyway!

We had SS10 last weekend, and unfortunately this clashed with me getting a stomach bug, so I didn't see much of him. On Sunday, just before he was going home he'd been asked to get all his toys together in a bag, and he was winding me up by waving a toy gun around. Anyway, he was swearing blind that he'd picked everything up (though I knew he'd 'checked' his bedroom in about 5 seconds flat) so I made a deal with him - anything not in the bag once I counted to 10 was staying at ours & not going home with him. He agreed.
