A Tale of Twuntzilla

queenofthedamned's picture

So, Twuntzilla is living deep in the land of delusions. She's got skid1 there with her too, and reality is going to smack him hard in the face soon.

A little background: Skid1 just turned 14. In our state, kids can get their learner's driving permits at 14. In order to do so, they need to take a written test at the DOT. With the permit, they can drive with a licensed driver over 18 in the car. If they keep their permits for 6 months with no issues, and take a Driver's Ed class, they can get a school permit, which allows them to drive to/from school without an adult in the car.

sometimes I feel like the only sane person swimming in a sea of insanity

So I've been sick as hell since Sunday. The absolute worst I've ever felt in my life - headache like I've never felt, chills, fever, sore throat, cough, stuffy nose, diarrhea, muscle aches. I went to the doctor yesterday, got tested, and yep - it's influenza A.

Our state is in the midst of an epidemic right now. Three kids have died from it, two of whom had been vaccinated. Since DH was starting to feel symptomatic as well, the doc sent in scripts for both of us for tamiflu (to the tune of $250 after insurance, thankyouverymuch).

I actually feel bad for my skids....

.... little assholes though they may be.

After BM made promises of the moon and the stars to them for Christmas, and much talk of her "promotion" and "huge raise," what did she actually get them for Christmas?

Zilch. Zero. Nada.

I am all for teaching kids that spending time with family is the most important thing during the holiday season, but to build up their expectations so high while doing nothing for them was downright cruel. To top it off, Twuntzilla bought gifts for other people and thought nothing of wrapping them in front the skids.

I'm invisible

Step parenting blows. Gave the skids their gifts tonight - not many but VERY costly gifts. Skid1 got an Xbox1, skid2 an aquarium for his room and a video game. DH got lots of thanks and love. I got nada. Not a hello when they got here, not a thank you, not a Merry Christmas. I'm so over them. Merry effing Christmas.
God, I miss my family right now. Next year, I'll be gone for the holidays.

O/T: Serial Podcast, anyone?!?

queenofthedamned's picture

I am obsessed with it. No one I know IRL listens (really? 5 million listeners and NO ONE I KNOW IS LISTENING?)

Posting this on the off chance that one of you are a part of that 5 million. I need to discuss this with someone before I go crazy, if I'm not already there! LOL!

Episode 11 is out today and the second this skid gets out the door to school it's going on. T minus 10 minutes y'all!

Update: Found my kitty!

Thanks to everyone who posted encouragement on my last blog about my cat being lost. We found him! Spent the day searching, printing flyers and making posters, talking to neighbors, visiting the shelter, etc. When DH got home I sent him out in the yard to look while I finished up posters. Within two minutes he was yelling to me "I hear meowing!"

O/T: My kitty is missing :(

I got home this evening around 9:45 from the most grueling exam I have ever taken, and asked DH if he had fed the animals (which is a mostly rhetorical question, because he almost never does). Of course he hadn't, so I set out to do so. One of my kitties didn't show up for feeding (which is super unusual - the cats are indoor only, and take great pleasure in stealing kibbles out of the 80+ lb dogs' bowls before they get their own grub).

crazy BM requests

DH and I just returned from an amazing vacation to the Caribbean to see my brother get married. Such a wonderful time, and technically our honeymoon.

Upon our return to the States, waiting for a connecting flight, DH called skid1 (they had only been able to communicate through FB messages, since we were international).

Skid1 said "Mom wanted me to ask if you could get her a shot glass for her collection."

Um, no. And this is not the first time she's requested this of us on our travels. WTF?
