Argh, I hate jealously

I'm so annoyed right now. IM is the worst possible forum for discussion, but I'm at work (the worst possible place to discuss personal problems) so I've been on IM for about three hours trying to figure out how to help my BF get over the fact that I have friends who like me as more than friends.

I live in New York. It's pretty nice here for a November day, but there's something really WRONG about sending my SD to school in her choice of sandals or flip-flops because her parents can't get their acts together.

I don't *think* I asked for pity...

I'm so frustrated with commentary from people who have no children let alone never dealt with a stepfamily. I think my mom is a nut, but at least she talks about my stepdaughter like she were anyone's daughter and not a disease. SD's going to grow up too quickly and hate me just because she's mad at the world, according to my mom, when she says anything at all about me being a mom.

My stepdaughter is absolutely gorgeous. She turns six in December, but you can just see how beautiful she's going to be. I try not to resent that my kids (none of which have been conceived) won't be as gorgeous as her b/c I'm totally white, so my kids will be mostly bland while she is half-Chinese and half-Puerto Rican.

I resent all the drama that's come with falling in love with my BF, but I want nothing more than for this little girl to grow up and be a well-adjusted person, a woman with a head on her shoulders.
