DH came home from work Friday and after some arguing back and forth, he insisted on taking our 2yo to an out of state graduation party for his niece. I joined with our 3 mo. old.

We drove all night and arrived at 4 a.m. We were exhausted.

The next morning, DH got a call from SD saying that she needed somewhere to go until the party began (party started at 4 p.m.). None of DH's relatives were home, so she came to DH's parents' house, where we were staying.

A cop rolled up to the house on Friday asking to see SS and to make sure he was clean/fed/looked ok and if there was food in our fridge!
WHAT?! He said he was called by CPS to come and check on the child.
We know it was BM because we have had welfare checks done on her in the past, but only after her keeping SS from DH for weeks and one time, months at a time.

How can we stop this insanity!

The cop knew what kind of situation it was once we showed him the court order/guardian report, but just told us to "be careful" and that the truth will always prevail.

This is a converstaion my dh had with ss14. Ss14 is in the kitchen making him a glass of tea. Dh was on his way out the back door from the kitchen. I was coming out of our room next to the kitchen.

DH and I have been married for a year and a half. We've known eachother for years. We were dealt some tough hands after our marriage but finally seemed to be at a perfect spot and blending our 4 kiddos (2 are mine, 2 are his) nicely. We were taking care of some legal issues, finding our places in our home, working out the kinks and the past weeks especially have been AMAZING....and then tonight it was all shot to heck in a split second.

I wish today was something new of but of course not.

This is a good thing! insert MASSIVE eye roll..... my gawd, she's 18 and hasn't showered in THREE days. I just got home from the lake to hear her in the shower......'bout damn time! What is wrong with teens that dont like to shower???? I dont understand it!

This is sort of off the regular topics of Step Talk but my dear wife retired as a church organist today. She is 60 and has been playing the organ in church for about 50 years (fifty years!) I could never stick with anything that long!! She started turning pages for nuns when she was 7. She's played in a lot of churches over the years and probably married and buried over 500-1000 people.

My SS10 is obsessed with guns. He has a collection of water guns, nerf guns, airsoft guns, and shooting games. I told my husband he's exhibited too much immaturity, lack of values, disprespect, and irresponsibility to be so immerged with them and it be healthy. My husband disagreed. A year ago, when my SS got mad at a kid at school, he threatened to blow the kids head off. We got a call from the principal and had to assure him we didn't have any guns in the house. My husband took away violent video games for awhile (but my SS didn't have the airsoft gun at the time).

So last Sunday before BF and I had to take SS4 back to his BM's, BF siad he had to go meet up with a soon to be new business partner "just for a couple hours", said he'd be back before 2pm and we'd all spend some time together before we had to take SS4 back at 4:30pm... No surprise he doesn't get home till 4:00pm and has to rush around and find something to eat before we leave.

I know I have, and there were plenty of times when I thought I was not. So I ask you to think about this and answer:
