So this time I’m not writing to vent or ask for advice. I walked into a house where kids were failing, stealing, drugs, dirty and messy, marijuana, lazy, no work, no driving, internet addiction etc. Kids were 20/16/14

I fought with my husband A LOT! And left numberous times, saying ‘give me a cut off date. If they aren’t functioning adults, when is the cut off date for them to move out?’. Couple of counseling sessions where counselor said to him you need more discipline etc.

So just found out SS 17, almost 18, has tried 2 types of drugs more serious than marijuana. Don’t know what. He is pretty hopeless, failing at school, no job etc. I came in a year ago. Have never parented as I don’t feel I have the right to. How do you tell a 17 yr old you are confiscating his mobile when you are not his parent? So what should I expect of his dad now he has this info? We found out from younger SS in confidence so cannot directly question. What do we do so things don’t get worse? Kid has super bad judgement

SS 17 (18 in December). Doesn’t seem to be motivated for anything. Just passing in school when really he could be a straight A student without much effort. On his computer or in front of tv all the time, I think there may be screen addiction. Still not driving. No interest in getting part time work. Only half school days. His father took away his electronics. So he watched movies on phone. Took away phone so watched movies on school computer. Took away school computer so watched bad tv because we took away remotes. Sleeps after school watches tv all night.

never done this before. So I’m actually not from this country (Australia), so when I’m here I stay with my fiancé, his ex has kids every second weekend. He has 3 kids, thought it would be fine and I like the younger 2. I’ve come in and immediately started cleaning and cooking and washing. Paid for a holiday for all of us, including the 20 year olds boyfriend. Bought things like towel hooks for their rooms because their towels are always wet. Offered money for holidays for eldest etc. but this is the problem I have with each one:
