Be the mom .....but wait now you are just a SM

Has anyone ever had this problem where you are put in the position where DH and Skids are looking at you like do something you are the mom, and for a while you take on the role and then all of a sudden you are at fault and skids are like you are not our mom you are just the SM and DH is saying the same thing, so what do you do? Do you become the heartless SM? or do you just keep getting pushed and pulled?

So the past few weeks have been pretty expensive. I do not want to be a heartless SM, even though I keep threatening DH that I am going to be, I am just so sick and tired of spending money on SS when BM will not pay child support. in the past few weeks DH and I have spent at least $250 on him this includes, special food that he will only eat for his lunch, clothes, and family activities.

There are two types of priceless people and they are: the one who will comfort us, give us support and love us unconditionally and be a friend. and then there is the other one, who will test us, push us to our breaking point, make us muster courage that we never thought we had, these people make us stronger.

so to all of you step parents who think they have had enough with the BM and Skids, remember that these people play just as important role in your life as your loved ones!

Be like an Aunt?!

I do not know if any of you watched the Oprah show a few days ago, I did not but a friend of mine watched and told me that the show had to do with step parents and step children and the advice is that SM are to act as if they are the child's Aunt. Not to play a 2nd mom but be an aunt, what do you all think?

Do skids do this on purpose?

So I woke up this morning and SS had already left the house 1/2 and hr before he had to catch the bus (he was over at his friends house who he catches the bus with) so I was up with bio-son eating breakfast and I saw SS walking by the house on the way to the bus stop,(He is going over to BM after school today) now it is pouring down rain and there is a storm SS was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and no jacket.

SS was over at BM's this past weekend, and in dinner conversation he told the family what he did, he said that him and the next door neighbor kid were playing with BB guns. They were shooting the animals in the yard and bottles in the front yard (BM lives in a suburb of the city).

SS has BM's maiden name, This was an issue between BM and DH many years ago before "our" son was born, it also came up again when SS started elementary school and now it has come up again this school year.

Just wanted to wish everyone a good weekend!

to those custodial SM (including myself) have a wonderful weekend enjoy every moment of it, especially if skids are off at BM's house, heres hoping that you will have a nice and relaxing weekend, I know I will Smile but I will meet you all back here on monday when the s@*t hits the fan!

My SS is the oldest in both households, he has a 1/2 brother in our home and BM has other kids. DH and I have custody of SS and BM has SS EOW. Now everytime SS comes back from a visit it is like training a puppy all over again, about mannners and respect and responsibility, it gets very tiring.
