Some days I just can't...

moeilijk's picture

I just can't. My eyes don't move fast enough to skip certain names, and I didn't know about a certain dramatic poster and foolishly started to read.

Today, it's just too much. I am, right this moment, suffering a mixture of sadness, disappointment, frustration and embarrassment at what I've read today. I too am a human, able to use the internet and a keyboard. The difference is, I try to use my powers for good... but sometimes the bad seems so big.

Deep sigh. Fresh start tomorrow.

OT - inlaw drama, Final Chapter (I hope)

moeilijk's picture

Ok, so I beleive my past blogs are still up. Basically, I was told a couple of months ago that;
1. My MIL and SIL do soooooo much for DH and I by taking care of DD2.5, that it is too much; and
2. I am not family.

I was hurt, because actually, I am the social director of the entire d!mn family. If not for me, those two would never see DD OR DH. I am the one who reminds about birthdays and takes care of gifts and says thank you. I've been doing that for coming up on 8 years now.

OT - update to toy situation

Thanks so much to everyone who commented on my blog about what to do about too much stuff for DD2.5.

Prior to the blog, I was looking into buying more furniture for DD's room to keep all her stuff. Ha! What to do with too much stuff is NOT to buy storage solutions, lol...

I went through her stuff, there wasn't anything broken but I did throw out all the random pipe cleaners and plastic containers.

OT - kids' toys (sidebar from Teas's recent room switch blog)

Ok, so... how many/what kinds of toys are 'normal' and what is too much?

I feel like DD2.5 has too many toys. Most require a lot of imagination. There are a couple that turn on or make a noise, but that's about 4, and two of those are different kinds of whistles.

She seems to, in general, play with all of them, but not all in one day.

OT - toddler, pee, and parenting question

moeilijk's picture

Ok. I live in the Netherlands. There are lots of outdoor shopping malls, so no public toilets or foodcourts or anything like that.

I have a toddler. She's toilet-trained, but we need to respond swiftly to the call of nature.

She pees before we leave any area that has a toilet. But sometimes she has to go before we are back in a toilet-occupied zone.

More in-law drama...

From the frying pan into the fire...

So MIL and SIL came over last Wednesday to take DD swimming and 'talked' to me about my text message (see prior blog for backstory: https://www.steptalk.org/node/228668). TBH, I didn't care that they didn't like it. I apologized for the upset my message caused, explained that my intention was to say that I wanted a closer relationship and, in the moment, felt that SIL/MIL were saying they didn't want me/me and DH around, so that's where the heat came from.

OT - in-law situation

Ok, ladies. I did something that I regret, and I am not sure how to handle it.

Ancient history: I have been married to my DH for 7+ years. We have DD2. I moved to his country when we got married. He has MIL and SIL who live in the same city we do, and who are so joined at the hip they are practically conjoined twins. He also has FIL, who is currently living in the Phillipines with his new partner, and who calls MIL and SIL on the phone at least once per week. In comparison, FIL calls DH maybe once every couple of months.

Thank you

So as I commented on someone else's blog, I realized I wanted to say thank you to the posters here.

I've learned so much about parenting, about being a partner, a DIL, a SIL, about boundaries and so much more from you. Sometimes by reading the trainwrecks people find themselves in, and trying to help them disentangle themselves. Sometimes by reading the advice those people get. Sometimes by how I feel inside when I read some advice or ideas.
