Not "tired" anymore... Thanks! (also- how do I change my name?)

Last-Wife's picture

I'm not "tired" anymore. Steptalk has given me a place to vent my frustrations without taking things out on my husband or the skids. I've learned to let go of many things. I come for good advice, and take whatever I get back all in stride. Even though I haven't "friended" many people, there are a few posters I also look for and take a peek in their lives... I value your thoughts and opinions. And yes, there are some days when I realize I don't have it so bad afterall!

Why do I even bother? Princess is being a brat...

Princess WILL NOT get me down, but damn, I am angry and hurt. I'm venting so this doesn't get me down. Our house has been SO happy and "even" for the last month. I'm not going to let her teen girl outburst ruin me.

So, Loghead and I were talking in the kitchen, and she comes in and starts rambling about something that happened at work. I could see Loghead totally zone out. Even though I didn't care, I stayed focused. And then she throws in, "Oh, yeah. That graduation party you're planning? I don't want one, so don't expect me to help get the house ready."

too much!... other funny from track meet

My father-in-law also showed up for the track meet yesterday. Loca Grande made a huge deal about him being there and gave him a huge hug, and asked all kinds of questions about his recent knee surgery. Showed great concern for him and MIL, said she can't wait to see them all at graduation next month...

When she turned her back for a minute, he just rolled his eyes at me, and made a gagging gesture. Too funny!

Then later, she asks, "Oh, yeah. What day is graduation? I have to ask off work..."

OMG, some people should not be allowed out in public!

What supportive parenting! (NOT) (and how I "win")

Loca Grande drives over an hour to attend Lazy Boye's track meet yesterday. I was able to attend as well, since the meet was in the town where I teach. Even though I have totally disengaged from her since her psycho outburst in January, I made an effort to be nice and polite. I sat with her and her husband for a bit, but didn't speak unless she spoke to me. Anyway, Lazy Boye was running the mile, and it was very obvious he was going to come in last. She started cleaning up her things and actually left before he even crossed the finish line!

Am I being too nice? Advice requested

Loca Grande ticked me off back at the end of January, and I have cut all communication with her. Which in some ways is great, but she refuses to talk to Loghead, so most times we don't even know what plans she has with the skids. The boys were there this weekend, and they did call Loghead and arrange to stay with her Sunday night, and she would bring them back to school Monday morning. (They had a snow make-up day; I'm still on vacation.)

Therapy today...

She was pleased to hear about the last few weeks, and to know I was taking a stand and making my voice heard. I had a break through while sitting there. I realized the kids were feeding off our anger at each other, causing them to be stressed and acting out in anger. Now that we are getting along, and Loghead is supporting me, things are balanced. WE are happy, and treating each other with kindness and respect. The kids are seeing that, and are acting the same in return as well.

Happy days...

I'm trying not to be overly optimistic, because I don't want to jinx anything, but our house has been amazingly pleasant since our date night on March 7. The kids have gone about their business and their chores. They seem to get to and from their mother's house without me having to deal with her. Loghead's temp job ended, but he has used the time off to finish up some jobs around the house that needed to be done.

The Sound of Silence

All three skids went to their mother's this weekend. This is the first time in almost 6 months that they have all been there at the same time. I'm sure she's going crazy by now, while I just sit here and enjoy the silence of my home.

I think I'll go do a happy dance...
