Hee hee! Ho ho! Let's change the CO!

So SS sends DW a text.

"Why isn't Drac0 picking me up?"

DW texts back.

"It's summer. We are now on summer schedule"

"Awwwww" was all SS replied.

DW showed me the text and says "See? SS hates being at his Dad's. He wants to come home."

I hand the phone back and say "More likely he is confused and got his days mixed up again."

DW starts talking about getting a lawyer because - surely - SS is old enough now to decide that he wants to live with us full time. Surely that is what he wants (because that is what DW wants).

Fireworks? What Fireworks?

Just a quick update on how my evening played out.

My neighbor offered me to follow him to his friend’s place who lives close to the park. The Friend offered the use of his driveway and this made matters super easy for me and BS and BD. The kids were excited and even more excited when DW and SS showed up. SS had “bed head hair”

“SS was sleeping in the car.” DW said.

Figures. That kid never goes to sleep at a normal time at Donkeykong’s place and ends up sleeping through most of the day.

Independence/Dependence Day Celebrations

The park in the neighboring town is having fireworks for the July 4th celebrations. The fireworks display is at 8:30. Usually, the fireworks last for about 15 minutes.

With me so far?

Good.

DW made a post on FB stating that she is really looking forward to it as it is BD’s first time going. Well SS (who is at his Dad’s for most of the summer) saw the post and commented “Can I come to?”

“Ask your Dad” was all DW commented back.

Within an hour SS answers “Dad says I can go!”

SS in denial "BUT I PASSED!!!"

This is just too rich. SS has been trying to get in touch with DW but she is at work and cannot be reached so SS is texting me.

Great! I LOVE being the harbinger of bad news:

SS: Why do I have to go to summer school?

Me: You have to pass 2 of the 3 core courses. You failed all three.

SS: But the report card says I passed.

Me: The report card states you have an average of 65%. Yes, that is a pass. But in order to move on, you have to pass 2 of the 3 core courses.

SS: I don't understand. Is my report card the right one?

Live to Fail Another Day?

The school VP called yesterday.

The results are in.

One of the criteria to move from grade 8 to grade 9 is that the student must pass 2 of the 3 core courses.

SS failed all three of them.

The VP said she is willing to overlook one of the marks since it was close but SS must go to summer school to retake two of the core courses AND he must pass both of them otherwise next year he will have to repeat grade 8.

DW called me at work to deliver the news.

“We knew this might happen.” She said.

This would mark the 6th time that I have met with SS’s therapist. It’s also the first time DW and I met with the therapist without SS present. That being said, I walked into the office knowing full well that my thoughts and observations would have little impact.

I never expected what would transpire next!

OT - C25K (after one month of running)

Drac0's picture

Well it's been a month now since I started this program. I should be on week 4 of the program but I am taking things VERY slowly and am only on week 2 of the program which consists of running for 90s and walking for 2m. When I started, I only went out for my runs twice a week to allow myself to recuperate. It's getting a little easier now and I am running 3 times a week.

At first my leg muscles were stiff for a few days. Now they are only stiff for a few hours. My endurance level is definetly improving.

My Father's Day Gift is a little late....But I like it!

So now that school is out, we gave SS a bunch of chores to do. Nothing super complicated, but DW and I expect them to be done.

One of the chores is to walk the dog and pick up after it should it decide to do it’s business.

The pattern is always the same with SS.

Day 1: Does the tasks appointed to him without any prompting.
Day 2: Does the task but only being reminded of them.
Day 3: Tries to get out of the task somehow.
