Fireworks? What Fireworks?

Just a quick update on how my evening played out.

My neighbor offered me to follow him to his friend’s place who lives close to the park. The Friend offered the use of his driveway and this made matters super easy for me and BS and BD. The kids were excited and even more excited when DW and SS showed up. SS had “bed head hair”

“SS was sleeping in the car.” DW said.

Figures. That kid never goes to sleep at a normal time at Donkeykong’s place and ends up sleeping through most of the day.

The start of the evening went pretty much as I predicted. SS clung to DW most of the evening and was acting pretty sullen (due to sleep deprivation). The only time he spoke up was when he wanted something “Moooooom? Can I get drink?”

But then one of SS’s friend’s from school shows up. That changed SS’s demeanor completely.

“Mooooooom? Can I go hang out with my friend?”

DW gave him the okay but told him to be back before the fireworks start.

SS left. Fireworks started. BS and BD loved every second of it. DW less so because she was half-focused on the fireworks spectacle and half-looking through the crowds and checking her cell for SS.

Fireworks were over in 15 minutes and SS still never returned.

DW tried calling and texting but SS never picked up. DW started freaking out. Now you can imagine a sea of people walking around us leaving the park and DW hoping up and down to try and look over the crowd to find SS (Yeah, completely unnecessary). SS finally shows up ten minutes later. DW starts berating him asking him where he was.

“I was with my friend.” SS says bluntly.

“I told you to be back BEFORE the fireworks started!” DW stated clearly showing she was angry.

“Oh? Are they finished?”

“Wait a minute!” I said. “You mean you didn’t hear the fireworks? Where did you go?”

“I dunno. I was with my friend” SS says again, as if that would explain things.

After we found our way out of the park and had to part ways, I said “Thanks for coming SS, even though we only spent a whole 5 minutes together and you missed the fireworks.”

“Uh, yeah. Bye.”

DW ended up being late dropping SS off. Oh well, fat chance Donkeykong is going to relinquish some of his custody time again.

If there is a next time, I am not saying anything. I really don't give a rat's ass one way or the other if SS is with us on special occasions or not. I won't encourage DW but I am not going to prevent her either from going out of her way from playing taxi-driver/Geisha/majordomo/animal-rescuer to this kid. This way when she feels the pangs of the stress of having to deal with Donkeykong and an unappreciative teenager, it's all on her.

This is something I have been trying to tell DW. I told her that SS will soon start learning how to use public transport on how to get from Donkeykong's place to ours....Not to see us but to see his friends.

My sentiments exactly. I was hoping that DW sees that there is little point in bending over backwards for a kid who really doesn't give a sh*t about spending time with family but when I spoke to DW this morning she seems proud at having "saved" SS from a boring evening at his father's.

SMH.

SS never does play with a full deck and when he is sleep-deprived, he has even less cards in his deck. Seriously, when he comes back from his Dad's he looks and acts like an extra from the set of "The Walking Dead".

On the bright side, I have become a fabulous predictor of what SS will say and do. Ironic that the woman who is so emotionally enmeshed with her son cannot predict the sheer stupidities he will pull.

ROTFLMAO!

I actually have a portion of that costume already!!!

But I'd trade it all in for the Eye of Sauron. As much as I can predict SS, I still have no idea what escape plan "Scrouger" and "Cooler King" are hatching.

Honey? Where are all the spoons? And why are there small piles of dirt scattered throughout the house?

Damn it! That really made me laugh. And laughing hurts because I have a flu with a swollen throat.

Consequences?

I don't understand.

What is this word?

English please!

Smile

Let me pull out my crystal ball and advise you that DW is most likely delusional in that she tells others she is a fantastic mother and disciplinarian toward her eldest!!! (insert eyeroll)

This never fails to make me choke on my own saliva.

For over six years, Chef Boyardumb would go around kissing his kids (and the BM's) nether quarters. Since they all PASed out, he tells everyone (AND ME WHO WITNESSED PERSONALLY THE UNSIGHTLY SMOOCHY SMOOCHY) that he was a strict disciplinarian with his brood and THAT'S why they don't come over any more. Of course when in private and he's on one of his sauced up rampages, he tells me that I'M personally responsible for the PASout of his three "angels" because I treated them badly. (insert yet another eye roll)

Beats me. He either doesn't hear his phone, the power is off, doesn't have it on him or he lost it.
