Is it just me?

Went on a hike yesterday with DH, SD16, SD20, BIL, and niece. It a mountain hike that starts of at the base and begins the assent right away. Hike was a level 3-4 (out of 5) and it was 27 C (not sure what that is for you Americans!). Should have taken us four hours return.

SD20 does zero activity and is about 50 lbs overweight. I said to DH before we started that this wasn't a good idea.

Are insurance deductibles considered uninsured expenses?

MineAndYours's picture

BM is refusing to pay a small dentist bill because it is a result of DH's insurance deductable.

The CO states that she is responsible for the first $100 of uninsured medical expenses before the cost is split to income portion.

Is the deductible still considered uninsured expense?

Entitled or not entitled?

DH has not received any documentation with regards to SD20s financial situation regarding the amount of her student loans she has received for the second semester or for Intersession.

All DH has is an email from BM stating that she did not send any documentation because SD20 does not need assistance this year for her post secondary education.

BM has stated that SD20 has applied and been approved for intersession as well and IF SD20 requires financial assistance in the future BM will forward the documentation that she thinks he will need.

BM asking for more again...

Email conversation between DH and BM. Just a couple of notes that puts this into perspective a little better. I really think that BM was hinting for me to contribute (indirectly by taking even more of our household expense so DH could give more money). She is shit outta luck there. MY kids had a job and saved for driver's school.

Stepmom moment

DH comes home and says that SD20 wanted him to ask me if my place of work did "work terms" for students from the college (she is currently enrolled in Office Administration). I was so shocked I blurted "Is she cracked?!!!!"

I couldn't help it! I think DH was kinda miffed at my tone but it was a totally shocked response. The nerve of some people.

Anyway...after my initial reaction I told DH that under no circumstances would I recommend her for a work term at my place of work..NOPE!!! That's all I would need to have a reporter for BM at work every day!

Affording a lawyer.....

MineAndYours's picture

How do one decide if a lawyer is affordable? If CS stretches you to the absolute max...to the point that you can't afford anything else..then how the heck you supposed to get a lawyer?

But on the flip side...how can you NOT get one?

This is the issue. BM says if we can afford a lawyer to go to court to fight what she is asking for...we can pay what she wants...

Any suggestion to an appropriate response to that?

How the little things get to you.....

So we requested (through the mediator) a copy of BM's insurance coverage for SD15, income information for BM and SD20, college costing and student loan amounts received for SD20 and a couple of other things. She sends along the the info to the mediator who forwards along to us. All well and good.

After reviewing the information we find that the Vision section she printed off empty from the website states "We are unable to display the requested information at this time. Please refer to your handbook or contact a representative".

Stay here or move away from it all.....

So DH and I were talking about what we will do if BM doesn't agree to a lower CS amount. We have a very solid marriage and want to do what's best for everyone. Dh getting a second job here will not solve anything...he wouldn't make enough money to get ahead and would just end up owing more CS. I am not getting a second job to pay for his kids and I'm struggling with NOT resenting SKs. I have a full blown case of BM heebie jeebies...she can rot for all I care.

Sharing financial information with Skids?

So DH and BM are doing a new CS agreement. She is asking for more than DH can afford on his own (55% of his take home pay) if we take into consideration his family debt loan he has from their divorce (until Oct 2018) plus CS plus income portion of band trips and post secondary for two kids.

Keep in mind money is very tight right now due to consolidation loans and DH's family debt loan. We are married and share finances and assets (right or wrong is done now....and not easily reversed).
