No matter how much BM is trying to make SD hate my guts.... it is not working. SD came in the house for her visit this year (26 Dec - 3 Jan) and gave me a big ole hug...... told me "Merry Xmas Ima" it just felt great.....

Then last night before bed time - after sitting under the blanket with me watching the Wizard of Oz - she leaned over and gave me a hug. I was surprised. But it felt good to know that even though her mom is lying on me every chance she gets...... SD is not believing her.

Well BM came back to the state about a week ago. She has the 2 boys (5, 6) for the second half of the holidays. Because of her inability to get along with and control the 6 yr old, all of her visits this year have been shortened for him. Typically on a weekend visit he will go to her house midday on a Saturday and return 24 hours later. She is able to tolerate the younger one because he thinks she's the greatest and poops 24k gold! Well, the divorce is FINALLY done - hip hip hooray! Our plan was to drop off the SS5 today on the way to FH's work and then Wednesday for SS6.

How many step-kids are now Step-Talkers?

How many of you called your step-parents by their first names? How many called the parents as "Mom" or "Dad"? And how many had some sort hybrid name?

When did you meet your step-parents? Does this make a difference in your relationship with them?

"Sometimes I wish that someone had just told me to run the other way. Would I have listened? Probably not. I couldn't see his bad side then, we didn't date long enough really. He has two major drawbacks. First, he has a bad temper and a personality that is often patronizing, know it all, and abrasive. He shows little emotion.. sadness or what have you all looks the same as anger- usually. When he is not acting that way he is much better and over the years I have found my way with his calmer side and we manage.

SD told DH last week when were tryin to buy her airplane ticket back to college that she was not going back-she lost her scholarship.It was supposed to be her Xmas gift...but too late now since DH already gave her a $$gift.Now she decides she's goin back til May. At the last minute...DH buys her airplane ticket at a much higher rate. She refuses to spend the night here (dont want her to)& hung up on DH since he told her he was goin to drive SD back with FIL & the whole gang.DH promises everything,but cant deliver.

To all the BMs with Skids older then your BKids, what do your Skids call you? Has it affected what your child calls you?
My SD is 3 and a half and she calls me by my first name. She started calling me "mom" when she found out I was her Stepmom but someone (maternal grandmother) told her that she was NOT allowed to call me mom. This kid loves me and has shown that she prefers me to her mom but she is afraid to call me mom.

The good news: my daughter had a beautiful baby girl a week ago! We are going to see her next week, since we live about 1000 miles away. My other daughter is flying in, too, and it will be the first time in over a year that I have seen my girls. I can't wait!

OD is 30 and she has a nice BF with a very supportive family. They bought her baby furniture, a new bed and opened a $1000 saving account for baby. It was one of those unplanned pregnancies but certainly a great joy to OD, BF, me and DH, YD, and BF's family.

My brother and I were trucked around to AT LEAST 4 different places on a Christmas...now we HATE Christmas! We both have come to HATE Christmas and we even talked about not celebrating next year and I made the mistake of telling our mom and she told her mom and I got the "guilt call" today from my gram about it... I'm SOOO grinding my teeth right now! My bro and I are going to Mexico next year for Xmas...just so we don't have deal with the bullshit that we have to deal with every year... WE DESERVE A CHRISTMAS THAT WE ENJOY!!!!

O.k was just wondering how many out here have different music and genra from your spouse? My taste run from Buddy Holly, to Journey to Jimmy Buffett. My dh has agreed to goto a Jb concert but not a reunion tour of Bh.. So what does you and your dh or so range to in music?

The skids were with us Christmas morning and they opened presents and it was wonderful. Then we had to take them to the BM's house. We met up with some friends and found out that BM was scrounging around at all the local bars and receiving money from friends of ours for her kids for Christmas!!! She has everyone convinced that she is hard up for money.
