So this weekend was his weekend and he stepped out for a few minutes and while he was gone, ss9 started singing to himself while he was playing his ps3. he was singing a song that was so not age appropriate. i didn't say anything to him because i did not want to have to explain to him what it was that he was saying if he didnt alreay know and have to get into that convo with him so i texted dh and told him what he was singing.

Over this past year of being a new stepmom I have learned a few things:

Over this past year of being a new stepmom I have learned a few things:

1. You can’t change other people (I can’t make their biological mom less crazy!)

2. I can’t do everything right, but I can do my best.

3. There are going to be conflicts between myself and my husband on the way to raise the kids and compromise is the solution.

4. Remember kids are just kids and when you go from none to 3 it is hard to keep that in mind sometimes.

Aftercare / Summer Camp

zenjetset's picture

Has anyone heard of a summer camp / after care program that does keep attendance records? BM has skids registered in an aftercare program the transport the kids from school to the aftercare location that does that maintain attendance records!!! This is very surprising to me. We are trying to determine how many days skids have attended summer camp and are unable to without attendance records. The policy is you only pay for the days you use.

So we’re in the middle of the WORST month of the allergy season (grass pollen is my #1 enemy followed closely by rag weed which is also in its prime!) and this morning when I woke up I was ready to die. SS6 has terrible spring allergies but he’s been ok since the worst of the tree pollen has subsided, but I’m in complete hell.

Jealous of Step Kids - The myth I have to bust.

JJO's picture

My DH believes that I am jealous of my SD5 :jawdrop:

~Quick Brief~
I dont have children of my own
this is my first -hopefully and only- marriage
Guilt parenting on his side ( he has admitted that himself)
5yo spoiled princess - she is the center of this world - wants everything her way
she doesnt follow any rules, she manipulates her father and anyone else that allows her to do so.

And I'm the one being called selfish?

salexius's picture

I have been with my boyfriend for 2 years. He has 2 kids (4 and 7) who live 8 hours away from us. We just had them for 5 weeks and I had to pay for almost EVERYTHING, including a week trip to the beach, since my boyfriend is basically unemployed. I decided to book us a romantic beach vacation for a few days just to kind of unwind. My boyfriend basically said that I was being selfish because that money could have been used to go visit the kids for a weekend - if not, we probably won't be able to see them until Christmas.

How Do I Respond?

After SD9 has been with her BM for most of the last 3 weeks, she has come home and asked that I attempt to become friendly with her Bm as her BM has requested that she would love for this to happen. So I told SD9, I will attempt but cannot make any guarentees that this will transpire. SD9 also states she wanted to once again play soccer but of course, BM has to agree to this as well as games are on some saturdays that she has SD9 (BM has her every other weekend, we have primary custody) Here is the email that I sent.

Hi BM,
