OMG- I think I am losing my job tomorrow

Anne Boleyn's picture

My boss is suddenly flying in from another city and set up a meeting with me, in person, at 1230 tomorrow. (I normally work from home so have to go in). I just got the meeting request at 530. She also cancelled another late afternoon meeting with me tomorrow and that was odd. I REALLY think I am getting laid off. I've been with the company over 17 years. This SUCKS.

Oh and I obviously would like to talk to FDH about this. But he's been at the quack-ass pediatrician's office with BM and SD for three hours having magic wands waived over her. I sent him a message telling him I think I am losing my job and TOTALLY freaking out. Asked him to call the second he got in the car. His response? "OK". I sent another message saying "Sorry to interfere with your effing family time. Don't bother calling".

Hope you're wrong AB and there's another explanation, but if not I hope for improvements in DH's supportiveness and new opportunities for you. I know so many people who have flourished after redundancy and gone on to new and more interesting things, including my DH and my best friend.

I'm sorry, Anne! It's a horrible feeling, I know. DH and I got let go at the same time earlier this year. We figured he was being let go, but we had no idea they'd let me go at the exact same time. I can tell you that we are both much happier now. DH is working with a much better company, and I have been staying home with my son. I'm just now really starting to look. I hope everything works out for the best tomorrow. (((HUGS)))

Will keep everything crossed for you tomorrow (well overnight for me...)

You may just be worrying about nothing though so try to stay calm (easier said than done)

At remember that everything happens for a reason so there will be something better coming along for you if your suspicions are right - and maybe you NEED a few months off with your FDH taking care of you - especially after all the shit his family have put you through...

Hang in there! Is your company down sizing? I have been down that road and was not easy. I had 3 years of back to school, contract jobs and unemployment. I later worked a job for 16 1/2 years that I JUST LOVED. I was also single thru all this. I remarried in JAN. 2011. Management started to suck big time. I still loved my job but that back the drama was too much. I walked of the job in MAR. 2012. I did not tell them shit. I clocked out and gave my badge to security at the back. I told them to do my dept. a favor...to call them and tell them I walked. Sorry is....they did not get the message. No communicate.

Do not sweat it... HUGS!!

Fingers crossed for you.

I will say that losing my last job was heartbreaking- and one of the best things that ever happened to me. Good Luck!

When a door closes, sometimes a window opens. Find it.

I hope you give us an update soon. And it wasn't as bad as you figured.
