OT: We Had To Let Our Fur Baby Go Yesterday

Dawn-Moderator's picture

She got pneumonia and she fought the good fight but she just couldn't beat it. She was hooked up to an oxygen machine to help her breathe and it was still a struggle. She also had more seizures.

It was the hardest thing we ever had to do.

Today everything I do or see reminds me of her.

I am heartbroken......

My heart is breaking for you Dawn. Losing a furbaby is beyond hard. I can still remember every detail of every ones I've lost... Hang in there. I'm so sorry.

Dawn, I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to let them go, but not letting her suffer is the best decision.

My darling Mr. P would have been 12 yesterday. It's been 10 months since I lost him to cancer. I still cry and miss him so much, but I'm happy he is no longer hurting. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Very sorry to hear of this loss. Our pets are so wonderful, truely the BEST best friends ever. I hope that in time, the good memories overcome the sadness. Shedding a tear even now because I still miss my big guard dog who passed a year ago this month. I try to go into gratitude & be thankful I got to have that dear pet for the last 6 years of his life, instead of sad that he's gone over the rainbow bridge. What a priceless gift!

We said goodbye

Not long ago

You blessed my journey

With the wet of your tears on my face

Although you may not know it

A part of me is with you now

With you

In the strange, hollow places

In the quiet house

Your empty hand

Forgetting, you raise your head

To look for me

And I am not there

And I feel your heart aching

Time will soften the ach

And love gently mould

Memories into a smile

A faraway look

But for now

I am filled with gratitude

And wonder

As I witness your grief

For I realize that

For me

You were willing

To feel this pain

I, who am forever changed

By the gift you gave

So completely

Realize now what you did

You gave me your heart

Fully knowing that

One day I would leave you

With an empty

Aching sadness

And many tears to cry

You knew I would leave you

And still you gave me your heart

Thank you, my dear friend

For that gift

It meant the world to me

I'm so sorry. We had to do the same this past October for the same reason. Our pooch was 16 and still running around and getting mistaken for a puppy on our walks (she was a buff Cocker Spaniel mix...aka a mutt but she looked mostly like a Spaniel. We kept her fur cut close and she looked like a Golden puppy).

She'd just had her 6 month check-up and the vet said that her bloodwork and physical exam seemed like that of a much younger dog.

Then, she started coughing in July and went downhill quickly...responded to antibiotics and anti-inflammatories at first...then it came back stronger and the vet said all we could do was keep her comfortable. I know it can be heartbreaking.

So very sorry, Dawn. I've been there too and it's absolutely awful. Try to remember what a good life you gave her and how happy she made you. You were good to each other.

Oh, Dawn, I am so sorry.  I lost my beloved Sheba last Mother's Day and I still cry over her Sad

As hard as it was, you did the right thing by your furbaby.  Hang on to those memories - they will sustain you over the next little while.

Dawn dear, I’m so sorry for your loss. My heart is aching for you. Furbabies ARE our children and in so many ways, the perfect child... they don’t talk back, they’re never spiteful, they only want love and always show love.

My Yorkie will be 15 on Friday. He has neurological issues so some days are good, some are bad. It feels like the end is always right around the corner and I don’t know how I’ll be able to breathe when that day comes.

I can't express my condolences enough hun. Hang in there ❤️
