Hi there, so its been a few months since the 'brat is back' blog. Well, theres been phases of it. Up and down. Ultimately Its school (and oh...having to like...work..and..pay attention) thats the real problem for SS. He has fairly bad Learning Disabilities (LD), and seemingly has such low motivation that it smells like low self-esteem (or maybe depression). My partner reminds me that 'Im not a doctor' so i should shut up and watch as he maybe never gets the help he needs...... But, the kid, he just can't see/sense how good hes actually got it - and how much worse it could be.

Well, it dosen't take long for all the benefits of a wholesome trip away to disappear from the mind of a 14 year old who lives perpetually in the moment. Sometimes I just think he's a complete product of the age - a flaccid and un-creative CONSUMER, just born to consume and that is all.

Z came back from his grandmothers' and...I think , in a small way at least, he learnt his lesson. He has been noticeably easier to deal with, more polite, even thoughtful (god forbid!). A little metaphysical 'spell making' and placing it under his bed unbeknowns to him seems like a desperate ploy but hey - anything with a bit of a postive charge might help. The 'spell' suggests that he will become more and more thoughtful and amicable with each day that goes past.

Hi there, thanks for the comments. Now, I don't want to sound too negative about Z here. Essentially, Z's a good kid -deep down. I was a bit flustered when i wrote my intro. Hes been away because he didnt come home one night last week, and then came home drunk the next, then called his mom a 'stuck up bitch' because she wouldnt let him instantly go out and hang with his friends the next day,,so we offered him a chance to catch up with his grandmother in chch. Hes comnig back on wednesday. I've....i'm gonna buy a pair of earplugs and pray that everything goes smooth.

Welcome one and all to my blog - a purely cathartic piece of documentary journalism regarding the behaviour of my 'stepson', of which I shall now call 'z'. Things haven't been going so well since he hit adolescence, he was always a bit of a handful for my partner, 'x'. But the influx of hormones , peers and the media have amplified this - and he has become a real little to monster..so...and this is purely self-help, I will keep this up for the entire year - maybe i'll be able to find some 'patterns'. Maybe its bad nutrition.
