Parenting Class - Funny
Apparently BM is taking a parenting class. Last night when DH picked up SSons she mentioned how she got this great idea from her parenting class. Conversation as relayed by DH:
BM: SSons don’t pick up their toys here and I’m considering trying a new tactic I learned in parenting class, I’d like to know what you think.
DH: What is it?
BM: I’m going to ask the boys to pick up their toys. If they don’t listen I’m going to pick the toys up and keep them. SSons will have to buy them back from me.
DH: That’s a good idea, BettyRay and I have been doing that for over a year now.
BM: Oh Really.
DH: Yes, and we’ve recently up the tactic to include wrestling in the house. If the boys are caught wrestling we will take a GameCube game. If they continue to ignore us we’ll take the GameCube. If they still continue to wrestle we’ll take the DVD player, after that the TV. Then they will have to do chores around the house to earn the items back.
DH: I’d be happy to meet with you and discuss house rules. BettyRay and I would like to have the same rules at both homes to make it easier on the boys.
BM: I’ll think about it.
I wish I could have been there to see the look on BM’s face. DH was smiling from ear to ear. He was so proud of the fact that we already do this.
Thanks to all of you. Most of the ideas for the house rules I got from the awesome Steps on this site. It took me awhile to get DH on board but once we started the house rules, and he saw what a difference it made, he is all for it.
The chaos in the house has settled down, the boys know what we expect, except for the wrestling. But once they loose their video games, I’m sure the wrestling will stop. DH and I plan to give each item confiscated a dollar amount and then have them work around the house to earn the items back. We’re thinking $5 an hour, kind of like minimum wage. }:)
