Look in your daughters mouth, BM!!! Ugh!

All three kids had a dentist appointment yesterday! FINALLY!!!! I'm sooo happy..we finally have great dental insurance for the kids-SD10 BS3 BD6. It went great for our kids. No cavities or problems and the dentist said they have beautiful teeth. SD on the other hand, poor thing, had a broken tooth on the bottom and 4 other cavities.

So, I had to bring SD back this morning to have a tooth extracted-which was already capped by the way! Today the den2ist brought me back and said very bluntly "So, mom, please explain to me the situation with these teeth and why." I said "Okay, doc, heres the deal...I'm step mom and we recently got custody of her and we don't know her dental history or what was going on at her other home, which is why she's here, obviously there is a problem with dental hygeine at her mothers house and we're here to fix that. Permanately."

The dentists entire attitude changed and I was thinking "yeah, dude, not my doing."

They fixed half of her teeth and we will be back next week to finish the rest. I'm so irritated! BM knew about the broken tooth, SD said they went to the dentist and the dentist told them to make a follow up to have the tooth repaired and BM never made the appointment. I know BM has full medical/dental and vision because she was on welfare! NO EXCUSE!

This shows that BM obviously didn't/doesn't care. if she cared she would make sure that SD was brushing her teeth and was being seen by a dentist. It's part of being a responsible parent.

Our BM, Uberskank, is the same way. And so is PP. Her toothbrush has been in our bathroom for over a year now. I wash it in efferdent once a month to keep it clean but it otherwise remains untouched by human hands.

PP mentions braces every once in a while to DH, who (for once having testicles) tells her why should i pay for braces when you don't even bother to brush your teeth?

Ughghh what is it with this trend. My parents never took us to the dentist and so I have a lot of issues I don't want my kids going through so they go to the dentist every 6 months and they floss and brush and dont drink anything but water at night n snacks at bed time. My SD on the other hand sugar addicts have to be told constantly to brush and because I nag they do it half ass. BM has state insurance so everything is covered and when I called her out on never taking them to a dentist she said "Excuse me for being a working mom, I dont trust the Farmers Dentist...whatever it is." Sooooooo she just doesn't take them at all.

I had a terrible dentist as a child and as a result I had a lot of problems with my teeth. Luckily, I've had a lot of work done to be able to smile. Smile So, I know the importance of oral health and I know the extreme, unconsolable pain of an abcess tooth. I have so dilligent with my children and teeth brushing

BM hasn't taken SD16 to the dentist since 2008. DH and I finally gave up, and started getting her annual cleanings during our summer visitation. We did, however, decline to pay to have a chipped tooth (purely cosmetic) fixed. We don't even notice it, and if it bugs BM, she can get a dentist and pay the copay.

BM is a lazy piece of crap. She hounded SD16 about that damn tooth and why DH refused to get it fixed - SD16 said what we told her to; that BM should call DH. BM said she would, and it's been three weeks - surprise, surprise, no call from BM.

I feel for you, I really do.
