Enabling and not listening

JBDmom's picture

I tried to yet again y’all to SO about giving in to SD4s crying and fit throwing. Again I was met with defensiveness and just straight up ignoring me. I don’t know how else to get the point across clearly so that he actually listens and sees what he’s doing. It’s almost feels like he thinks air or anyone else has the right to say anything about his daughters behavior especially if it’s negative. He doesn’t listen to me, his aunt or his mom. I’m getting so sick and tired of having to deal with the tantrums and the screaming and arguing and complete lack of respect from her all because he lets her mow over him  on a daily basis with out any consequences. I can’t even bring it up to him with out us getting into a ridiculously over the top fight. *dash1* I’m going out of my mind the lack of communication is annoying and so frustrating.

Do you have to be with this guy?  We’ve been married 12 years, and I stayed and married him because I got pregnant, otherwise I would have left.

My DH got a little better, at least he finally “got” that his little girl is no angel, and understands why I don’t like having her near me, but I had to put up with a lot of abuse from her and a lot of arguing from him to get there.

At least he now keeps budget in mind when SD or BM ask for crap, and I mean crap, things they don’t need or just want to splurge on, stuff we can’t even afford for ourselves, but he still has problems saying “no” and jumps through silly hoops for her.  Anyway, I’m at the point where once my kids have flown the nest, I’ll reevaluate how much he still has invested in his crazy daughter and ex wife, and decide if I’m better off going solo.

When you tell him, He is playing into SD games, HE get defensive against you.  He is showing no respect to you, as you don’t matter, your opinion is not worth anything.  This is a tip of the bigger problem. He will do what he wants and that it.

Time for the big talk and time to takr a big closer look

You've TRIED speaking to him to no avail because he gets defensive due to his sh!tty parenting. She's only 4 so you can imagine what her teenage years will bring without giving her structure and consequences. The question you should be asking is if you want to continue in a relationship with a father who doesn't take you into consideration and parents poorly? You think its bad now.......it only gets worse the older she gets.
