I HATE Mothers Day

schatzie's picture

OMG I thought I was the only one with SD issues! I am so glad I found this site. About a week or two before Mothers Day I always get so depressed. I am happily married to a wonderful man who has a 17 year old bio daughter. The bio mom is completely out of the picture and has been for the last 11 years. Still, my SD17 does not treat me like her mom. She sent me a text yesterday saying Happy Mothers Day! Nice, yeah, a call would have been appropriate. I am the only "mother" she has.

Help me pick out chores the skids can do for allowance!

We have SS3 (turns 4 in July) half the time, and we take SS's sister (who is 6) 1-2 days during the week. We discussed this weekend that we could start giving the skids some chores to do in return for allowance. You know, the whole teaching responsibility, work ethic, and also the value of money thing... Smile

So I need help thinking of feasible chores that a 4 and 6 year old can do, that won't require a ton of direction. Here's my list so far:

BM completely belittled the skid's Mother's Day gifts to her.

We've increasingly noticed how little empathy, sympathy, thankfulness and gratitude the skids have -- over the past months. They are soooo spoiled, especially SD6...so when we won't give her things or we request that she have a good attitude first to prove her worthiness for something, she just gets worse.

My mothers day...and damn pms or depression

overit2's picture

I don't know what's going on w/me...if it's a bad case of pms or I'm seriously getting depressed again. I've been having crying jags that last few weeks....this last week and last couple days it's been worse. I wake up in middle of night crying, morning, random...I just want to lay around. Nothing seems to matter. I get mad easily, irritated, everything seems so monumental.

I feel like I've given up on being a mom, a friend, I"m not interested in anything/anyone right now.

Child support ends and now she wants to give child to us?????

I am new to this site but soo thrilled to have come across it. Where have you been for the last 17 years. Here is my issue. Child support ends this month with graduation. The ex-spouse actually send a text message to my husband asking if he wants to continue paying support. Are you kidding me? We are 54 and 46 and have two sons of our own 12 and 14. We have saved nothing for college and very little for retirement. I am a teacher and my husband makes a little more than I do.Finally we can have a little extra to save for emergencies and retirement.

Too much to expect.....

Such a wonderful Mother's Day. Mommy and me swim in the morning, a great nap in the afternoon and on stellar behavior all day! It's like my 9 month old knew she had to be on top of her game for this special day of the year. One thing was missing. My stepdaugther's, who have always acknowledged Mother's Day with cards and breakfast or at the very least, a phone call...did NOTHING.
