OT - Thankful Thursday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Sorry it's so late in the day, folks. It's been a bit of a wild ride today.

I am thankful for:

  • My job. While there are certainly some PITAs here, I LOVE what I do and I'm damn good at it.

  • Physical mobility. One of my coworkers just had a double knee replacement. Oooooooooooowwwwww!!! Fingers crossed I can keep my knees for life.

  • Mad driving skills. All my life, I've known how to drive in the snow. Any time I get a new car, I test it out at the first snowfall to see how it handles. Every new snowfall, I test the road conditions to know HOW I need to drive. Was able to elude a deer that came bounding into the road, damn near hit my less-than-6-month-old car. But I managed to avoid hitting that damn deer AND stayed out of the trees and (mostly) on the shoulder. Good thing I peed before I left the house.

Happy Thursday, STalkers. Count your blessings!

I am thankful for music; specifically the music of my teenage years.  I was listening to Nights in White Satin the other night while driving home and it ocurred to me that music is one of those things that I will surely miss about this life.

Moody Blues, baby! I have a free trial for Siruis and the first two channels I programmed were 70s and 80s. (Yes, I know that song came out in the late 60s - have 60s programmed, too!)

I love the Moody Blues. I often wonder how and why they came up with that name for this band. Maybe a little moody ( high ) or a little blue over a relationship. But this music is good for the soul. Aniki siruis is great for long trips. Tuesday Afternoon is my favorite song. Well one of them. LOL I am thankful for music.Honestly if it wasn't for music I would not be here.

From Wikipedia:

The name developed from a hoped-for sponsorship from the Mitchells & Butlers Brewery which failed to materialise, the band calling themselves both "The M Bs" and "The M B Five", and was also a subtle reference to the Duke Ellington song "Mood Indigo".

Thankful for everyone here on ST who took the time and offered their kind words of compassion and sympathy following the death of my brother.

Thankful for the gift of time.

Thankful that I am surrounded with people who really matter.

It's all to easy to forget just how precious the gift of time is. xo

I am also thankful for my job. I love it, and I like most of the people I work with. Love my boss. I've kept his ass out of the fire for more than one project and you BET he's smart enough to appreciate it.

And, I am thankful for my piano teacher, and for ALL music teachers. (This includes my SD.) I started lessons a few years ago when I needed to do something for MYSELF. Honestly, music teachers are some of the people I admire most. Certainly they have a trained ear, have mastered their instrument, and have high levels of appreciation for music in general. But they make a living listening to students butcher their lessons. I couldn't do it.
