MIL can shove this gift where the sun don't shine

TickedOff's picture

MIL is going out of town tonight so she dropped by with some gifts for us. Got DH a few rounds of golf, SD16 expensive earphones, DD a doll set and me a teeth whitening gift certificate. I would rather her not spend a dime on me then to try me with a gift like this. No I never mentioned anything to her about teeth whitening. No I do not have bad teeth. And no she was not being thoughtful. Her and both know what she was trying to do. I'm taking my gift for her back for something cheap and stupid like a dollar store tea kettle. Should get her some adult diapers to collect her sh*tty attitude. DH thinks she didn't mean anything by it just wants me to have a sparkly smile on my beautiful face. Yeah DH does this beautiful face have "stupid" stamped on it? I need a mini cigar a glass of wine the sweet stuff.

That is always the story! Blood is thicker than water...they do no wrong...they are just loving people like angels of heaven. Right!

It s a bit of a too personal (aka offensive) gift unless she knew this is something you regularly would do. I take it that's not the case. It could have been a re-gift? Ok, so many she was just being a jerk :?

Nothing wrong in exchanging whatever you bought for her and using some of the excess cash for something for yourself. I was 'me' shopping today. I am done present shopping so today I was using my store discount coupons on me. I got a new purse and three new sweaters. Merry Christmas to me!

Don't let her ruin your day...just go shop for yourself with the cash from returning what she's not getting now. Thoughtful? Don't mean anything by it? Bwahahaha, yeah, right. Old goat.

P.S. I think your gift from MIL is even worst then from SS35..read my last blog. That gift was an insult to your personal appearance. That is a hit below the belt. I would try to find a 4X man size sweatshirt.

Lol I've had some bad pressies from the in-laws but that definitely trumps mine. Last year they walked in with this huge bag and the only thing in it was a cheap compact mirror. It was just bizarre. So this year I got them one of those desk top calendar blocks with a new "word of wisdom" for every day of the year. I wonder if they realise I'd like them to wise up?

I know you're hurt but think of all the fun you can have when you pick out their next gift! You've earned the right to get them something snarky right back.

My mom always every year got a pair of men's socks. That was it. Yep good ole grandma.

But I'd return all her presents and spend it all on me then give her the teeth whitening gc. Lol

Wow, I thought my MIL was a bitch. Geez, I feel lucky that my MIL is in her "happy" cycle of craziness towards me and DH right now. A few months ago, when she was in her "angry" cycle of crazy, I would not have received a gift. But hey, that's what you give a DIL who is trying to "turn" DH "away from his family". Smh.
