SD tried out for cheer

Simpleton21's picture

If you read my previous blogs I believe I mentioned that SD and BM decided she wouldn't do cheer anymore b/c of injuries/etc so she was going to do ice skating and softball (obviously much safer sports, lol).  Anyways, SD decided that she was going to try out for regular cheer (not competitive).  This is the first year she has to actually try out for regular cheer.  Before it was anyone interested in regular cheer made the team regardless of skill and competitive you try out for.  I'm not sure why they changed their minds on trying out but whatever.

SD calls DH last night to tell him that she completely messed up in her try out.  She didn't remember 1/2 of the moves or words.  I'm guessing she won't make it.  They find out today.  I wonder if she doesn't make it this time if BM will cause a big stink like she did when SD didn't make competitive cheer the first year she tried or when she made it but they wanted her to sit out the first competition.  Seems to me SD isn't really practicing hard enough and just expects mommy to get her in again....I'm interested to see how this plays out.

OP, I'm sorry. Seriously.

Thank you SteppedOut.  I'm guessing if SD doesn't make it and BM railroads a spot on the team for her like before SD will just have a "serious" injury the first time they are "mean" to her or expect her to work as hard as the other girls.

I will update when I find out how it all plays out....

I'm sure it will be.  Also, I know that if SD doesn't make the team there will be a million excuses as to why that aren't her fault, lol!

Schools don’t cut kids anymore unless they just can’t handle the number of kids that were trying out.   Are we betting on what the next injury is going to be? And how long she is going to milk it ?  My bet is, it will go through summer.  Nothing saids summer then wheelchair and crutches

Well I don't agree with the everyone makes it policy but you could be correct.

Once I update on the status of the try-outs (makes it or not) we can start an injury bet, lol!  The typical injury is a sprain/strain/undetectable tear/break that will require 3-9 months of physical therapy.  It has been a while for an arm/shoulder injury so that might be up next Wink

Does she have friends? Kids are mean, I find it hard to believe she doesn't get picked on for all the nonsense.

She has a lot of "best friends" that change constantly.  The little girl that lives near us that she used to always hang out with quit hanging out with her a few months ago and I wasn't surprised.  She also used to complain about bullies a lot when she was younger.  I've watched her in action though.  I think she is just as much the bully as the victim.  She will be mean and nasty and instigate stuff and then when the other person fights back she tattles.

I believe my SD is too but she is also very manipulative and good at saying what she knows people want to hear.  She is good at the innocent act but I see through it as I have witnessed enough of her interactions with my son and other kids to know she is not innocent at all.

It drives me crazy because DH and BM play into this innocent act and I see right through it.  Even the few times that DH has caught her in the act he still makes up dumb excuses for her behavior.  He is in total denial with it.  He has gotten a lot better and when I point things out he can't deny it.  I think he just hopes no one else notices but they do.  My family is totally onto her fake injury/attention seeking/faux victim ways.

You betcha!  I said the same thing when DH told me that she decided she was going to try out.  I may have rolled my eyes also.  At least it is entertaining ;)  If she makes it we can start a bet on when she will get injured and how long it will take to recover!

I just dont get why?? Does she just not like being not included in things but doesnt want to actually have to put effort in?

But I'm betting if she makes it there will be an injury within the first few weeks and then she will be out most of the season.

I think you could be onto something with the wanting to be included but not wanting to put in the effort.  I don't get it either.  If my son was constantly getting hurt in his dance class and requiring months and months of PT and dr apts EVERY time he was in a class I would find something else for him to do.  My son refuses to even try out for the competitive dance team b/c he wants to make sure he is really good before he does (I'm okay with that - saves me a ton of money). I'm sure BM has put a ton of money into this cheer stuff and SD hasn't participated for the most part due to "severe injuries".  Or maybe BM is trying to live vicariously through SD?!?!  From what I understand BM was a nerdy type.  IDK but it is madness!
