EFF OFF FRIDAY-Distracted drivers-OT

It took me over 8 hours to post my Christmas Day blog because I got a phone call early this morning.

EFF OFF TO DISTRACTED DRIVERS

DH called me at 7 a.m (I was already at work) he was trying to get to work a half-hour early to help on a project and not even two blocks away from his job a guy on a cell phone ran a stop-sign and hit DH truck...and DROVE OFF without stopping.  No clue how bad damage is but DH says one of his dual-exhaust pipes is now under his license-plate and he said the other driver's front end was a mess.  Only good news is the other driver's license plate fell off in the collision but I'm guessing he has no insurace since he didn't stop.  DH said he saw the SOB flying down the road and said he could see the light from the guy's cell phone lighting up his face before he flew into the intersection and hit him.

We have visitation this weekend, DH is fine but no clue if truck is drive-able, if he even went to work or if someone is picking up SS.  He had to wait over 1.5 hours for the police to show up to file a report in order to call his insurance company (they require a report number to file claim), but I have not heard anything since 10 a.m.

It seems like every time we take a small step forward with our finances something has to eff it up!!  We both JUST got our credit cards almost paid off last month and now DH has to pay a $500 deductable to get his truck fixed and I had to put my dog's surgery on my credit card last month so we are screwed again.  Yes I am aware had we not paid off our balance we would have no balance to afford these "fiasco's" but I was looking forward to not having a credit card payment for ONCE.

nobody died, ss wasn't in the car, but DAMN can't we get a break??

I am sorry that you are going through this.

Maybe the guy does have insurance and just didn't want to take the ding. We can hope!

Regardless, he is now on the hook for leaving the scene of an accident.
