TGIM! (Thank G-d Its Monday)

I really struggled with the skids this weekend. I’ve been with DH for 8 years and gradually it’s gotten better but every once and awhile the boys really set me off. This weekend was one of those weekends that make me want to run for it.

Friday I got home from work and SS11 asked me if I could wash his Class A Boy Scout shirt. It had a stain on the front, he needed it for camp on Saturday. I said sure. Scrubbed the shirt out and washed it. Stupid me. I should have said no.

The rest of the evening (and weekend) SS11 was a total ass to me. By bedtime, Friday, I was livid. DH asked what my problem was and I told him I hate being used. DH was like, “what do you mean?”

I proceeded to tell him that he and SS11 both got what they wanted – me washing the shirt – and all I got was more work, a shitty attitude from SS11, and DH turning a blind eye to SS11 being an ass.

DH then tells me that SS11 was going to say “thank you” before he went to bed but couldn’t find me. I said, “Translation you prodded SS11 to thank me but when I wasn’t around, you let it go because you knew SS11 really didn’t want to say it. Whatever.”

Not a peep out of DH about it after that comment.

Other stuff that happened includes the bathroom floor and rugs soaking wet after the boys showered on Sunday, the boys walking away from the table after Sunday dinner without offering to help clean up…etc…this post is long enough already.

Both boys are growing into selfish, entitled man-child idiots. DH is just noticing now how immature and ungrateful they are. He blames BM; I say BS. DH and BM have both coddled them and shaped them into what they are.

I try really hard to step back. To stay out of the skid hurricane but sometimes I let myself get sucked back in.

Oh and SS16 is supposed to get a job before he takes his driver’s license test. The test is scheduled for next week and he doesn’t have a job yet. I predict he will get his license anyway and BM will complain about paying for his insurance and gas.
