Twenty One Years Ago

Today, Chef darkened my doorstep with nothing but literally the shirt on his back.  Biggest mistake I ever made!  Anyway, Pumpkinhead (OSS stb 29) posted an extremely unflattering photo (except for StepDaddyBigBucks who is moderately photogenic) of the entire Girhippo clan on social media!

I do sympathize somewhat as menopause is one of nature's cruelest jokes played on women.  It's obvious that the Gir is post meno.  She was always "big boned" but has really packed on the pounds!  She looks utterly bloated.  So does Pumpkinhead and the Animal Torturer (SD stb 27)--she must be approaching 280 lbs.  The HousesHitter (YSS 23) is nowhere in sight.  The only decent looking members are SDBB and Pumpkinhead's wife.  Battleaxe Galactica (Gir's BM) is obviously in advanced dementia and looks completely zombiefied.  I don't have a lot of sympathy for her due to her downright evilness when she had all her faculties.  And there is the Gir's older half sister looking like the wicked witch of the west.

In other news I'm just finishing up one of the townhouses and trying to fill an almost 6 month vacancy with someone who is reasonably reasonsible.  Very difficult as most of the inquiries are from entitled "single" BMs LOL.

I'm fasting 3 days out of the week and am on week 5.  Down 12 lbs so far.  I'm doing it obviously to lose weight, however mostly to avoid being susceptible to injury.   I've had an L4 and L5 disc  herniation as well as torn miniscus so the last thing I want is surgery.   I'm also getting some pretty expensive remedial cosmetic dentistry next month.  My dad cheaped out on braces when I was a teen and sent me to a student who completely messed up my teeth.  I will finally have the smile I've always wanted!  Something my mother never had...she went to her grave being self conscious about the camera.

Sorry, but I'm just sitting here giggling at the names you've come up with. Battleaxe Galactica, hahahhahah! Although animal torturer is disturbing.
Congrats on the weight loss/health improvements. It's almost magic what a healthy weight can do for our health and well being.

Hey, TT,

About a decade ago, you posted a photo via Imgur of Gir, SDBB, HouseShitter, Animal Torturer, and Pumpkinhead. Must confess that, apart from SDBB, I’d never witnessed a more unattractive group of humans. Animal Torturer, although only about 16-years-old at that time, was already overweight, as were her brothers; talk about the red-headed stepchild!

The Gir was, to be charitable, a ‘big-boned’ gal who, like her daughter, did not need another ounce packed onto her considerable girth. Yikes! I don’t usually judge folks on their physical appearance, particularly since menopause was not kind to me either; it took stringent dieting and punishing exercise to keep my weight under control.

However, the Chef/Gir’s descendants are, thanks to both their heritage and upbringing, nasty people whose evil natures creep through. Battleaxe Galactica has a lot to answer for! Dang, but I’d love to see that photo!

I also invested in some expensive dental work in my early 60s; porcelain veneers and crowns. Despite having had braces in my younger years, my teeth had begun to shift and crack. My new and hugely improved smile did wonders for my self-esteem! Hon, because you are such an incredibly hard worker (I’m as lazy as a yellow dog), and because of all that you’ve had to endure from Chef, the Gir and their awful offspring, nobody deserves an uplifting procedure more than you!

I want to thank both of you for sharing your dental stories and telling me that it is ok to get major work done for somewhat cosmetic reasons, even when I am in my 60's! I was given Tetracycline when I was very young and so the enamal on my teeth never fully formed. My teeth have always been a bit dark and it has only worsened as I have aged. To really solve the problem I would need caps and I have just never gotten around to do it. You both have inspired me!

I'm also looking at having to have some work done.. and am "plussing it up".. to get a better end result.

My teeth have always been passably straight.. but a bit over 30 years ago a horse pulled back while tied.. the quick release knot.. did not, in fact, release.. and the brass snap broke and slinshotted into my face.. breaking one of my front teeth (not center two..one to the side).. clean off.  First it was a post in the root.. that broke through the root.. mean I had to have a "mini bridge" cantilevered off the tooth behind it.  That lasted a little while.. but has been replaced.. and about a year ago the crown loosened again.. and the dentist said I had cracked the support tooth.  So that meant I had a few options.

1. Go the implant route.. over 6 Grand and would take up to a year of healing and I wasn't up for that time while I still need to be facing people at work.

2.  Get another bridge.. but have it span 4 teeth instead of just two.. but it would involve one of my front center teeth.. and I was not super happy about having mismatched looking teeth up front.  and.. while they are at it.. if they crown two extra teeth.. I can "choose" a nice upper smile. This is about 4500.. so that's what I'm doing.

I had wanted to go the invisilign route prior to the bridge failing.. but don't have the money for THAT on top of the other stuff.. plus I would have to wait for theteeth to straighten before doing the other..and my bridge is in temporary mode.. and it will become an issue before that time unfortunately.. so maybe invisilign later.. or maybe just the top teeth looking great will be enough. (irony is my bottom teeth are the ones that are more crowded in appearance.. oh well.. ahah).

I'm going to be 60 this year.. and def want my ins to cover at least som of this!

Not going to lie it's going to be the price of a good used car.

I paid $12,500.00 for 6 veneers and 2 crowns. Not a procedure for those living from paycheck to paycheck. It's a fact, however, that oldsters are the ones with all the money. And after all, we deserve a few perks after working hard all our lives, yes?

thinkthrice's picture

Its more than that now.  I'm actually getting 18 veneers total.  Just over 29K

that dental work has a shelf life, so we should all expect and budget for remedial dental work when we're older.

I spent a lot on my teeth in my twenties, thinking that was that. Nope, now I get to do the same all over again.

Hey, ESMOD,

You've written: .. if they crown two extra teeth.. I can "choose" a nice upper smile. This is about 4500.. so that's what I'm doing.

Excellent decision! Maybe it's just me, but bridges are obvious and I'd dislike having something detachable in my mouth. My bottom teeth, like yours, are unattractive (worn down from clenching/grinding) but generally speaking, bottom teeth don't show when you're smiling.

And BTW, I wonder if dentists have ever noted a connection between steplife and clenching/grinding of the teeth?

ESMOD's picture

I have been lucky that the bridge I have had was a permanent one.. and just involved two teeth.. the missing one.. and the one supporting.. but now I will have a permanent 4 tooth bridge.. so I'm hoping it will be not too terribly noticeable.  If I win the lottery.. maybe I will go an implant route and then have the other three teeth just crowned individually.  But that is more than I want.

Botom teeth are just crowded.. so they are a little wonky.. not overly noticeable.. unless I do a partial open mouth smile.. and they are uneven.  I know no one notices but me.. and honestly.. no one notices 59/60 year old women anyway.. don't know why I am so worried about it.. haha.

ESMOD, I had 3 molars implanted when I was in my 50s and they were great, while they lasted. Unfortunately, one of them failed a couple of years ago and I ended up with a fragment imbedded in a sinus cavity; blood leaked from my nose when using my WaterPik! Don't even ask about the horror (surgery) of having the thing removed! Part of my jawbone evaporated so no chance of having another implant done. Another one is now causing pain and problems.

Appears to me that implants are not intended for the long haul. If I were you, I’d do a lot of research before going that route.

thinkthrice's picture

I've heard of people having failed implants due to the Bone not healing or something like that.  And more likely to happen as you get older.

ESMOD's picture

Good to know and now I feel better about my current choice to  just go with the crowns/bridge set up.

I actually have bone loss where the tooth that broke off was initially fixed with a post. The dentist drilled really close to the edge of the tooth to implant the post in the root.. and it broke through and abscessed for months... since there was no root.. there was no pain so I didn't realize it.  I did notice a painless white spot on my gum high up above the tooth though.. asked him about it at my next visit.. and that's when we figured out it had failed.. and the infection had eaten away at my bone by then.. so, there might not be much bone there anyway to do the implant on that tooth.. so a bridge would need to be done anyway.. and doing all that with just a couple teeth in the front of my mouth.. with healing for so many years.. I just wasn't up for that... If I was retired and could be hermit perhaps.  but not when I have to go out and be in public daily.. I am a bit too vain.lol

Oh absolutely get your teeth done! I had mine entirely redone at 60 and am just sorry I didn't have it done sooner. I am a teeth grinder (nobody told me until I was 35) and my lower teeth were worn down almost to oblivion. All of my teeth now have beautiful crowns and look perfectly natural. The ego boost a lovely smile gives you is worth every penny! Go for it I say! You won't regret it!

That's awesome about your weight loss and that you will be stronger from it to prevent injury.. and getting the dental work done. As a former dental claims examiner I say that is awesome!! My 3 kids all had braces. Their teeth all look great now. Sometimes we take care of others and forget about ourselves and its great that you are doing things that make you feel good and stronger.. Love it.

OMG I shouldn't be laughing but I am silently snickering lol!

Ill never forget the time the Disneyland dad I used to deal with showed me a pic of his ex wife.

That heifer had DSLs that looked like she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose. Wore so much synthetic hair she could have been mistaken for a walking yarn factory. And her beastly self looked liked she never skipped a meal but stayed sending hungry spawns over. She would always pull up and pull off at her kid drops like a bat out of hell (where she resides)

I could go on but I digress

I have very minimal sympathy for her bc she is so obnoxious

Anyways good luck with your fasting, teeth, and disc healing

grannyd's picture

Ah, Lilly,

You never fail to make me laugh! You also gave my DH a chuckle. What is a DSL?

Lillywy00's picture

DSL = D*ck s*cking lips lol!

As soon as I saw that picture of her looking like a solid 5 .... I knew I had leverage.... but unfortunately for him, a woman of my stature was no match for the DSLs and "golden uterus"

Whatever ... that "golden uterus" is more like cavernous tarnished bronze if you asked me

Lilly.  I hope my discs heal enough to start using my rowing machine again.
