My sad husband....cont.

Stepcop's picture

So yesterday I blogged about my husband going through a bout of depression. When things were good, every morning I would text him something sweet and encouraging for the day ex. "have a good day my love! I love you with all my heart. You are an amazing leader and will do great with xyz today!". Since he's been down I have changed that and sent him messages like "I live you with all my heart. You are a wonderful man, husband, friend, father, lover. You are the best part of my life. I will be here through thick and thin. The vows say for better or worse. I'm not going anywhere, I promise". For days I got no response or an ok, thanks, love you too. Today I gt a reply that gave me some hope, though I'm trying not to let it. He said, "you are my rock when I am sand, I love you too.". This sounds like progress. I miss my husband so much.

Awe, that just made me tear up.

Any bit of light is encouraging. Keep it up, kudos to you for sticking by him through this. Depression is a terrible sickness, and I hate to see people give up on loved ones when they are battling this.

Yesterday he told me he was indifferent to me, do I am absolutely aware this can change any moment....I'm just clinging to the small victories. You are right, depression is heart breaking to everyone involved. People not dealing with it tend not to understand.
