Cold shoulder this morning

So sd13 had a friend come stay the weekend this weekend. No problem there, the girl is a little enamored if sd, but she is a good, normal kid, and it doesn't happen often. They had a good time I think. Friend leaves Sunday. Dh asks me why I am all over sd, being mean. I'm like, huh? Apparently me telling her to put clothes on under her robe when she is coming to hang out in the living room, or to stop picking her nose and eating her boogers is mean. I correct her behavior, but its never been an issue. Dh wasn't himself this weekend either. I don't know what's up. I've been sick for so long, I just don't care.

So this morning I take lovely sd to school like usual. The windchill here is 10! 10!! She chooses to argue over wearing a coat. Not an uncommon occurrence, but my patience with this argument is thin. I tell her it's not a discussion, get the coat, lets go. Finally get in the car and silence. Fine. I try talking a bit, oh well. We get to school, I remind her to stay inside due to the weather, tell her to ave a food day and I love her (like everyday). I get a hmph, and door slam.

Ok, whatever. I call dh on the way to work and tell him, heads up, sd is in a mood. Told him that even when she is livid with me, she says I love you, even if she doesn't mean it. He says he'll talk to her and find out what's up.

I returned to work today for the first full day in over a month, because of illness. I get a text after lunch, "sd says she isn't mad at you". Ok what does that mean, she's just an asshole? I texted back that she was behaving strangely and if nothing's wrong, she needs to straighten up.

Her behavior is all over the place, I'm too tired to try to figure it out. Last night at dinner we mentioned that dh and I ran into her new therapist at a store. The very intuitive child asks what he was doing there. I couldn't stop myself from saying, probably shopping like every other person there. Dh says, he had his son with him. She asks if he is cute, and goes on to say she is going to ask the therapist for his number. My jaw dropped. Dh said that was a bad idea, why would she even think about that. She says she doesn't mind awkward. Dh says, well it's a conflict of interest, and she needs to keep therapy to her, not the therapists family. The kid is a piece of work.

I'm just venting. Thanks for listening.

I can't agree. 13 is still a child and in my state child services will get involved if a child is sent to school without a jacket in that kind of weather. They will take away children left and right that belong at home and will leave the abused ones to still be abused. She made the right decision to keep herself out of trouble and parent the 13 year old child who is not 23. I pick the battles that cover my ass.
