Yesterday was my bday and though dh spoiled me with gifts, he did forget to help the kids do something - write a card, get a gift, sig a song, whatever. He just didn't.

Mid day we were at the photographer studio where I was having the kids' photos taken and as you can imagine, 5 kids were going cuckoo and driving. Me crazy while we waited our turn. I told dh that in addition to being irritated with the kids, I was also a little upset with him. And that it was his job to help / make/ guide the kids with doing something on their own for my bday.

After the session, he got them in line and they all got me a box if my favorite sees candy. But he also instructed them to make cards when we got home. They all got to work and them marched down and presented them to me alongn with the candy.

When I read what SS14 wrote, I seriously started crying

"Thank you for everything you have ever done for me. You are one of the best things in my life. "

We've come such a long way from the "I hate you and you've ruined my life" days. I know I complain about the kid, but at least something is seeping into his little brain.
